That POS driver should have his license revoked along with criminal charges brought against him.

There’s faults on both sides here. Yeah, the driver should have been paying attention, but the crew should have done a better job protecting the guy in the bucket, such as a flagger or cone the area off.

There was a worker standing right in front of the truck waving his hands. The driver continued on and blatantly ignored him. That's criminal. In PA he'd go to jail for it.

You'd think the gross weight limit of the bucket was breached, and I'm with you, while that is pretty tense, the lazy aXX worker waving his arms, the drivers attention was caught by that, and should have had the lane closed. Lot going on there, and probably the last thing the driver thought. I don't see anything criminal, just a screw up. I always wondered if those buckets had restraints in them. Without it, that worker would have been killed in a fall like that. I think there's an opening for bucket operator.

Driver was in the correct lane and was probably devoting most of his attention to the left side of his trailer.

Driver sat at that light for several minutes. He knew exactly what he was going to do as he watched those guys working. He planned it and should be prosecuted.

The utility workers are 100% in the wrong, per the law. It is not legal for utility workers to be over an active roadway. They are required to completely block off their work area, which they didn’t. Obviously, they had cones, but, chose to not use them. I know all of this, because a previous employer had a driver involved in an identical incident. When it went to court, the defense attorney laid out the written laws the utility workers ignored. Hopefully, if there’s a resulting lawsuit from this incident, there will be a similar result.

The spokesdude is full of crap, when talking about safety being a priority.

While I do think the truck driver wasn’t paying attention or simply didn’t care, this one can’t all be hung on him. The utility workers were completely in the wrong. Wonder how long they’d been there and how much work they were doing with cars passing under the bucket?
