The cab over. So I have a friend that's somewhat interested in Trucking and he owns a body shop. He buys this 86 Pete cab over because he wants to fix it up and trick it out. well it's got a pretty bad knock in the motor so he calls me one day and wants me to come and look at it.
I've always kind of wanted a cab over just to have a little fun with and trick out myself. so other than a knock in the motor it seems like a pretty decent truck and still in pretty good shape. So I give him $4500 and bring it home, knowing that I already have a motor that I can put in it. so six months or so go by and in between work I get the motor and the transmission put in it.
About this time I'm in the transition of getting rid of Trucks and going to o/o's. I'm down to one driver, so I put him in the cab over while we're moving equipment for a big farm from Texas to South Carolina.
on one of the return trips He has an accident in Fort Worth and insurance cancels him. Bends the bumper on the cab over but that was about it so we get it home and it sits in the yard for another six months.
One of the owner operators who worked for me out of New Mexico blows the motor in his Kenworth. Doesn't have the money to fix it so we put him in the cab over. I don't know this guy real well and he's somewhat of a fly-by-night. But it's one of those guys that has a lot of hard luck and a sob story so I make him a deal to sell him the cab over. he sells his Kenworth and gives me about 3/4 of what I wanted for the cab over. Maybe a dumb move on my part but I give him the title to the truck cause I want him to switch it over and I don't want my name on it in case he has a wreck or something. He tells me he's gotta go haul hay for a week for this guy he owes to and he'll give me a call when he's done and that's the last I ever heard of him.
After trying to track him down for a while, found out that he was in a pretty big drug scene around Roswell, New Mexico. so needless to say it was getting pretty sketchy. Washed my hands of it and moved on. 12 years later, I get a phone call from a guy in Arizona who says he track down the ownership of this cab over sitting in this lot and wants to know if I would sell it to him. I said send me some pictures. He tells me the owner of this property paid this guy $5000 for the truck 10 years ago and never got the title. And the owner of property now wants the truck gone.So we called the DMV and found out the truck was still in my name. Now he wants to buy it But I'm not too sure. I may go pick it up. It looks like they've robbed a few parts off of it like a fuel tank, but the guy says it was running fine when they parked it there. There's a camper hooked to the back of it and I guess the guy I sold the truck to lived in that camper for a couple of years on that property. So pretty much it sounds like he left Roswell and went to Arizona and that's where he stayed for a couple of years before he sold the truck to the owner of the property. So I guess the truck really doesn't have any more miles on it than when I sold it to him, or very few. so the guy the neighbor of the property owner that wants to buy. It says he'll give me 2500 cash for the title.
so what do you think? Should I go pick it up or just wash my hands of it again and sell it.

Sitting on the front porch having coffee with the dogs and watching what else but truck videos on my IPad. Twin Stick garage is putting Bus Glass in an old Pete and I immediately think of Ruthless having bus glass. This particular truck they are putting it in all the way around since it’s a restoration. I think it does look good and was wondering how you like yours? IMG_1084.png
