Washington Beltway?? In 56/7, cross the Potomac on US1, 14th ? St Bridge, whack a right for a few blocks, (truck rte) turn left and go on up US1 a ways, Then could get on the Washington-Baltimore Expressway and run it on into Baltimore. Baltimore had a stockyard. Who knew...
Idea was to get the slow heavy truck rte traffic out of DC before loading the expressway on to Baltimore.

If I am not mistaken, the charcoal starter in the 1st pic was invented/designed/made in Corinth, MS. I know the 1st one I saw and bought was from there. I suppose they sold the rights on to others, huh. Stuff a sheet of newspaper in the bottom, turn over and put in charcoal. Wah La, white hot coals ready to cook. Simple suthern stuff....

    Yep, wuz ole Missippy boys..

ATTO RN EYs United States Patent 3,116,704 CHARCOAL STARTER Garner B. Byars, Sr. and Lavaughn Johnson, Corinth, Miss., assignors to Auto Fire Coropration, Corinth, Miss., a corporation of Mississippi Filed Jan. 26, 1962, Ser. No. 169,071 1 Claim. (Cl. 110-1) This invention relates to fuel ignition devices, and more particularly to a device for igniting charcoal for use in a barbecue type charcoal burner.

That’s about when they started building the Froot Loop.

I know the Parkway was done by ‘48 because from what I’ve read the backups on the Blvd going into Baltimore were legendary at that time.

I don’t know about in your day but B/W Parkway has a truck restriction now between rt 175 and US 50.

Any of you guys ever in SLC and have the time and inclination, go tour the temple there.
Impressive size and appearance, and it's construction/dimensions/features.
The tower to the left of the entrance houses an elevator. It is said, no elevator designs existed at the time it was built, but the internal dimensions were exact for the elevator later invented and installed. Maybe, may not..
    BUT..
I have sat way back with a tour group; and a lady rep would stand at the pulpit/podium, take a #2 wood pencil and snap it into. And you hear it like it was right in front of you. There are no audio electronics in it. The acoustics are amazing
