And I quit with no plan. Ok so that was my big mistake. Guess what. I liked that position as an NDF driver. I got to try tons of different accounts and different equipment. And I was paid almost fair pay. Not quite but close. But I still don't regret it. Schneider ain't going anywhere. I can always call them back. I'm not going back to that account tho because I know I'll get #### on.

Everyone deserves the pay equivalent to the position they have. Dry van is the easiest thing to get into and the pay reflects that. Right now Loves is advertising for a Sun-Thur day shift position in Carlin NV paying $30 an hour with o/t after 40. Pilot has jobs all over the country in the high $20’s per hour. But they require at least one year of experience plus hazmat. There are plenty of good jobs out there but you have to have a plan to put yourself in position for one. Which means you might have to suck it up for a while to get your employment back on track and get into that 1 to close to 2 years experience with only a couple jobs. The market isn’t going to improve for a while and employers will continue to have their choice of who they want to hire. Unless you get out of dry van and general freight you won’t get out of dry van and general freight pay.

Thanks for the heads up on the loves position. I'll have to check it out. Might not work for me only because I'm homeless. I would probably need to live in the truck to make that work, but I'll still look at it.

Me personally I've only done dry van for a month, mostly done flatbed work and 3 months on reefer dollar general.

I know quitting just before hitting a year was a hinderance. That's why I'm not just taking whatever is available. Also why I'm still leaning towards Schneider. If I took something at a different company I'd definitely be stuck there for some time, otherwise if I left I'd definitely be a job hopper.

I'll check out the Gemini job

I will say that if you had your hazmat, pilot and loves both advertise sleeper truck positions that pay hourly.

Yeah I would probably be happy with that position but Gemini says 1-2 years OTR on the description.

It does say or truck driving school but I'm not sure if that's either or?

I can’t get behind the whole “there’s so many guys working for free and just don’t know it”, I’ve been on the fence about putting out any kind of helpful information to you because in the beginning of this journey you were gung ho, sucked it up and got the job done, now here we are and there’s a rebuttal for everything posted that you don’t agree with. The term work for free would be just that, perform a task and get nothing, why is there such a mentality in this nation that if you don’t get exactly what you want then it’s not worth doing. My dad picked seaweed at a nuclear plant when I was a kid and he was laid off, he didn’t make much, but his work wasn’t free, it might not have been enough but it was something. I know I’m wasting my time putting out this opinion, but man you’re not making any friends on this forum, let me guess “you don’t need them”, people are tired or growing tired of trying to help you out. Safe travels in life man, I’m gonna check out before I even check in.

Mom went on a cruise about 20 years ago. She axed me if I wanted to go. I said no thanks. She had a great time though.
