@Knightcrawler @lual
I'm in Georgia. I've been told that the steps I have to take to get the hazmat endorsement are:
1. Take an ELDT Hazmat Theory course
2. Get the TSA background check
3. Take the hazmat test at the DDS
Whether having to take the ELDT Hazmat theory course is required is unclear. I need to know if I do. Because I don't see anything about that listed right on the Georgia DDS website:
"H - Hazmat Endorsement
Requires Knowledge Test only
Valid for CDL Class A, B, C
Pass TSA Background Check
Fingerprints are required for 1st-time issuance as well as renewals.
See TWIC, HME and the TSA Pre application program for more information.
Not eligible for a CLP. The applicant must have a valid Commercial Driver’s License."

Not much time and only one shot at this. Please help.

The Ga DDS website sez, "knowledge test only"....for the X endorsement.
So you really should be good without the ELDT course (unless that course is federally mandated, elsewhere).
Next -- study the hazmat (& tanker) sections of the GA commercial driver handbook/manual.
Then take some practice tests.
You really shouldn't have to pay anything for those practice tests.
There are enough free ones available on the web.

Shes not ready for the endless loney nights, and neother are you.
Its not a romantic country song, its hard work, long hours, missing important things you now take for granite. And most of all it certainly is not instant income. You won't make squat for at least a year , by then your house would be history.
If you wre good at your previous career, go to your peirs, the peoplw who know you stay in the same line of work.
Truck Driving will more than likely cost yu your family and whats left of your life. It comes a t a very high price over all. If you were a good manager of a world wide corporation, you should have the contcts to continue.
You have no idea if driving is in your blood, becayse you like country music about driving.
I kind call bs to your whole story, I doubt with the track record you listed, that you would get thru traing, which is never free, just a matter of the cost of the contract, and they will hold you to it, every penny. and every minute thet require to cover the load on the school.Last edited: Jul 18, 2025 at 11:13 AM

And as far as the ELDT I dont even really know what that is (yes, I know what it stands for). Ive had my CDL for over 40 years and havent been an instructor for over 20 now so all of that is after my time.James G Thanks this. -

This one has a no-touch freight option. Much better than driver-unload if a driver has some back problems.
