EOBR's and E-Logs are feared by those that are lying and deceitful.

That is the long and the short of it.
All your quaint "I am a rebel and run my truck my way" makes you nothing but a criminal. And as such since they will not give you jail time (My wish) at least CSA2010 will most likely make you uninsured, and out of this industry.

I wish all those that choose to be a criminal and run illegal get prison sentences when they wreck. Not just taking every #### dime from them, real jail time.

This was interesting to me: http://www.atri-online.org/research/results/173972_EOBR.pdf

It was published by ATRI (American Transportation Research Institute). ATRI, along with several other well known transportation research entities, does a lot of pre-regulation research for FMCSA/DOT. If you look at the research they've done in the recent past (within 10 years), you can see that the research they've completed has impacted regulations, e.g., HOS, CSA 2010, advance warning systems, driver fatigue, and on and on.

Well,I am not afraid of E-logs or EOBRS however!! these rules are B.S. and for the most part the only people that are really going to run by the rules are the ones that have not learned how to get around them yet or driving school grads that running by the rules is all they know...I have talked to many Highway patrol officers and dot officers over the years that agreed with me that most of the rules etc are to passify certain groups and to generate revenue for state and local government...A while back I stopped at a scale on the east side of St Paul Mn, I went inside and voluntered my truck for an inspection, the inspector and I visited for awhile we talked about logs hours of service etc..and as he said if the hos are for safety, why can you shut down at his scale house for 10 hours weather at you own discretion or due to being shut down by him and unhook from your trailer and drive all you want then ten hours later hook back up to your trailer and take of on your merry way,Did you sleep who knows?? Common sence is how I run There is no Eobr going to tell me when im tired I will always turn in a legal log< but I will drive when im rested and sleep when im tired...

Good judgement is the key to the issue. Some people have none. Hence the rules. You can stop at a casino for 8 hrs after driving for 6 hrs. and then can't drive.(Legal) Stay 2 more hrs. and drive for 11. Are you safer now? The rules will never fit every person every time.

When I'm sitting at the house at lunchtime tomorrow after only running 3 1/2 days this week , I'll think of ya. You'll probably be the guy running legal for 2 weeks straight no hometime and make half what I do in my 3 1/2 days...

Well both he and you are incorrect. Once placed OOS (shut down) FMCSA guidance says no personal conveyance.

But yes common sense would be a nice rule. Since we can not rely on that we have laws. People that want to violate that law detest any mechanism that enforces it.

I can not trust that you will use common sense any moire than you can expect it of me. Hence the law. Follow it, or be an outlaw your choice. But understand they are gonna be here very soon. Then everyone will have an accurate Record of Duty Status. No more lies, do what you want and face the consequences.

10. I just absolutely love all of these assumtions. :) Let's see....

If you run legal you won't make any money. Uhhh....nope. Making more money than I ever have, all running legal. Next year I'm going to go pay cash for a new tractor (glider kit).... from money made all while running 100% legal.

I'll be hanging out in truck stops all the time. Nope. Only go to Flying J occasionally to fuel and get out. RARELY do I spend more than 10 minutes in a truck stop.

I'll only be able to run 400 miles a day doing it legal? That's funny. Can't you do math? I run more than that and take naps and still don't violate the 14 hour rule, and even make all of my commitment times. Magical, huh?

True, I do run less miles than a lot of guys do, but that is by my own choice. Took a very short while of owning a truck to start striving to run less miles for more money. You go ahead and run your tail end off illegally, and I'll go ahead and just charge more for the miles I WANT to run.

Oh, and the best one of all.... If you run legal, your going to find yourself shut down 30 minutes from home. Maybe you will, I guess, if a 13 year old delinquent that's been held back two grades is doing your trip planning for you! I laugh everytime I hear this one. It's just too much.

All of these ridiculous claims are always made by people who refuse to follow the rules, they expose themselves very seriously legally, they are one DOT inspection away from fines and out of service orders, but yet they say that we (the folks who run legal) are always the ones who aren't "outsmarting" the authorities. LOL.

There are plenty things I don't like about the HOS rules, but I refuse to let myself be bullied into running illegally by some company or freight broker. Don't tell me I'm being outsmarted because I figured out how to make more money LEGALLY and then try to tell me I can't do it. That's just plain silly, but it is funny.

We'll see who's outsmarting who when, God forbid, there's a serious accident and DOT is combing through debit card records, cell phone bills, fuel reciepts, security cameras, toll reciepts, etc.!!!

If you think thAt's not ALREADY happening, then you're not keeping up with industry news! Man, it sure is nice to feel TOTALLY confident letting any DOT official see what I REALLY did. Knowing that if I'm involved in an accident, I won't give Parents Against Tired Truckers, Citizens for Reliable And Safe Highways, the DOT and FMCSA, and the bunch of scumbag government lawyers they'd undoubtedly hire, the ammunition and cause to have me locked up ain't too bad of a feeling, either.

11. FOLLOWED DIRECTLY BY.....

AND THEN....

This is just TOO good to pass up.

So you've "learned how to get around" the rules, but yet, you think you're allowed to bobtail after being placed out of service?!?!? :) LOL :)

Oh, and a little tip in case you want to do any more "outsmarting the authorities".....if your turning in a log that doesn't reflect what you really did, you're NOT TURNING IN A LEGAL LOG!!!!! LOL. :biggrin_255:
