no it's not. you must have 8 out of the 10 hours be logged as sleeper time. it also must be logged as 8 consecutive hours.

You are confusing the rule for split sleeper and regular 10 hr break...any combination of ten total hours can constitute the 10 hour rule...however to do split sleeper there must be 8 consecutive hours in the sleeper then continue your drive and the 2 hour sleeper follows the break/drive extension...it gets very confusing to most (including me)...and if only two hours more needed to start a new 14...why not just get a fresh 14?

Otherhalf is correct, you need 10 hours, in any combo.
I normally just put 10 hours sleeper, even though I go into the truckstop and eat, shower etc. Since I am solo.
Team they need to work it a little different at times I am sure.
I am surprised that they run the truck "Super Solo", that part does not bother me at all. It is a good way to do it. The trainee runs all the hours he can, and the trainer takes up the slack.
Works well if the trainer and trainee log legal. Meaning all hours in jump seat are on duty. For both of them.

If we can be this confused about the rules, isn't logical that a law enforcement officer can be just as easily confused??? I bet 1 dozen donuts there are many officers that are confused!!!

True. The rules are very hard to understand at times, just read some of the posts on this forum.

You can go off duty for 15 minutes to use the facilities...

...then to the sleeper for an hour to watch your favorite TV program....

...then back off-duty for an hour and a half while you eat & shoot the bull with other drivers in the restaurant....

...then back to the sleeper for 15 minutes to put on your walking shoes...

...then off duty for an hour as you walk laps around the truck stop....gotta work off that dinner...

...then back to the sleeper for another 15 minutes to grab your shower bag....

...then off duty for another hour while inside waiting for a shower before you finally get one and head back out to the truck...

...then back to the sleeper for 4 hours of sleep before you wake up and spend another 15 minutes in the sleeper getting dressed....

...then you can go back off duty for 30 minutes as you head into the truck stop to use the facilities and fill your coffee mug.

When you get back to the truck, you have had your "LEGAL" 10-hour break and can start driving as soon as you've completed your pre-trip and drawn the lines in your coloring book.

...and if a DOT officer wants to, he CAN write you for showing an unbroken 10-hour break in the sleeper. Did you get out of the truck for ANY reason during that time? If so, unless that time is shown as "off duty", your log book is not accurate. For example, if you are in the restaurant eating dinner (or doing anything else outside of your truck), you are not in the sleeper.

I just told my trainer that I was finished running illegal logs. When I am in the jump seat it will be logged as such. It was a volcanic atmosphere in the truck. Thank God we aer at a shipper that is kind and courteous.

I told my trainer that in six weeks he's shown me all the bad examples...so I am done with that and want to be trained in the right way.

This I feel isn't over and ill probably have to make some qcomm requests for another trainer...which I really don't want to do.

My trainer states that well be limited to 200 miles this way...in other words he's saying that he won't make any money. What childish bull. I told him that I didn't give a sh#t wether we ran 200 or two million miles, I want to be trained!

If you can run for eleven hours, and your trainer can drive for another three hours (I've heard it termed "Super Single"), I guaran-######-tee the two of you can run further than 200 miles. Balls up, with that kind of running (factoring in my required 10 hour break, not too mention all the associated work like fueling and pti and whatnot) I am capable of putting down around the area of 700 miles per 24 hour period. Furthermore, if your trainer isn't actually training you, he might as well be in the bunk sleeping when you're driving, thus giving him his full eleven hours of drive time! I'd drop this loser as fast as possible. This is not a field where you can afford to be badly trained or untrained when you go solo. There's just too much you need to be taught that isn't covered in driving schools.
