Try all three of those! Submit the apps before calling.

Yes I do have CDL-A. Newbie also.
It has hard to choose any of these while reading reviews on them.

Apply to all three. The one that hires you, stay for 12 months at least to show you're a dependable worker.

    Schneider veteran here....

Several years ago -- I faced a very similar situation to yours.

I was attempting to get into the class-A CDL world; I had a clean driving record, & no criminal history....but I had been out of the "regular" job world...for several years. :(

Also...due to civil legal issues -- my CDL was also over a year old -- without being put to use (yet).

Long story, short: no one else would hire me -- except Schneider.

A quick check of Schneider's website for your area....currently shows NO JOBS. :(

But....that may be a blessing in disguise.

    How so....you say?

Dot Transportation has a terminal near you, in Paramount, CA -- & hires/trains brand new CDL holders. :)

    Training & Orientation

This is easily one of the best gigs in the industry.

CAUTION: BOTH tanker & hazmat endorsements are/will be required....to drive for them.

If you don't already have those endorsements -- better get started....o_O

Be sure to submit a complete application to them -- before calling!

Another place that might hire you is www.apexbulk.com. The main office in in Adelanto, Ca and they have an office in Chula Vista also. They require min. 6 months but they might make exceptions. I worked for them many years ago. You will need doubles and triples endorsement and maybe tanker as they are bulk commodities.

    JogiDude and Chinatown Thank this.

I was based out of Otay Mesa for a few years. Very good people there.

There is some trailer parking there, but it is probably the smallest terminal. There is not room to park bobtails there, so many drivers park on the street when on home time if they don't have other options. Tractors can not stay hooked to trailers in that terminal.

Thank you so much @lual !! I appreciate it very much! I have just finished the application.

You're right, things happen for reason. Not being hired by Swift might be a blessing :)
