DC court blocks FMCSA’s non-domiciled CDL rule
AI generated details
Details of the stay
- What is paused: The U.S. Department of Transportation's (DOT) interim final rule from late September 2025.
- Who is affected: The rule would have removed eligibility for certain groups, including asylum seekers, refugees, and DACA recipients, from getting non-domiciled CDLs. The stay means these individuals are eligible again while the case proceeds.
- What is next: The court will review the lawsuit's merits, and the stay remains in effect pending a further order from the court.
- Why this happened: The stay was issued to give the court time to consider emergency motions to block the rule from being implemented.
- Impact: The rule is temporarily blocked, allowing the issuance of non-domiciled CDLs to continue as before, while the court case moves forward.

There’s going to be a lot of back lash about all the crazy moves this flip flop administration is doing. I’m sure if we dig deep enough Melania would qualify for deportation too according to their standards.Concorde Thanks this.

"Owner-operator and large trucking company representatives have supported FMCSA’s action limiting non-domiciled CDLs, asserting that the rule is needed to improve safety."
They say its to improve safety, but yet, they let anybody become an owner operator, and the large companies that have these 3 week courses and churn out drivers in the way they do, are the biggest contributors to putting any and everyone out on these highways. I'm glad they're taking a closer look at it because that law didn't have context at all.Concorde Thanks this. -
Well since she did violate her visa at one time..but then again they didn’t have any problems with her husband hiring a tribe of illegals to work his plantation in wpb
bryan21384 Thanks this. -
CVSA already said there wasn’t evidence of it being a safety issue.
Don’t get me wrong, I mostly agree with limiting visas to inexperienced drivers and to only issue them on a temporary basis when there’s an actual need. -
I just think if you're going to be choosy about foreign drivers, then the same needs to be done with American drivers. The bottom line for me is that obtaining a CDL is much too easy.Concorde Thanks this.
