I have Joan 'The Wicked Witch Of Mondovi' W. as well. And from day one I got stuck on her fleet, it's been a dog and cat fight. Mainly because she loves to prove that she will micro manage you to death . (That you work for her , and there is no team between you and her)Telling you to do you ten hr break at a customer that does not allow you to park over night, and when you try to explain this to her, she says NOT MY PROBLEM.
She does not read entire QC messages.
I ask her to ensure that spot trailer is to be ready, and then explain in the note my past history with shippers that the load info says spot load, then I get there, and the load turns into a 8 hr live load, thus making me late for drop. Her reply is, YOUR NEXT LOAD IS ON A SPOT. Well no shi* . I know what the load info said, but I just told you my past history with this shipper. Don't you ever read the ENTIRE message? She has no reply.

Ok let me tell you how to get along with Joan, cause ur doing it all wrong.
1st: Don't argue with her. Let her do her thing and ignore her. You do your job and let her do her job. This will put an end to the micro b/s. I drive my truck and I don't ask her or tell her for that matter what I'm doing. She knows that I always park as close to the shipper/rec as I can and that I will put in 500 miles every day.

2nd: Communicate in a respectful manner. I keep her updated every time there is something that is not as it should be or as I was told. Don't tell her to check on your spot load and see if it will be ready. Thats a waste of yours and her time. All she will do is send back "Next ld is a spot". Instead when you get there and find out that it's not ready send her a msg saying " This is not a spot load, It's a live load. They tell me it will load at xxxx time. " if this will make you late on the del tell her that. Just remember she is not C/S she is not the planner she has no control over the shipper/rec. All she can do is pass on the msg and work with them and you to get the job done.

Just like right now I'm sitting in Mesa AZ waiting to p/u a ld. QC info says 1000 p/u time. I get here early only to find out it is an 1100 appt and there is no way I'm getting loaded early. I tell Joan this, Not because I think there is anything she can do about it. But because I want it in the QC and for C/S to know. I will check back with the shipper at 1100 and then if I'm not in a door being loaded at 1130 I'll send another msg saying this and that if they want this load delivered on time they need to get these people on the ball. Don't argue with the customer, Don't argue with Joan, Don't raise your blood pressure. You did your's job, Now it's there problem. I will del is as soon as they load it.

3rd: Work with her, Not against her. I tell her what I can do ahead of time. After I have a ld and am headed to the rec with it. I get with her and let her know what I will be able to do once I'm mty. This gives her a heads up on what she can work with BEFORE I'm mty and 9-10 I have a p.p. on the next load. Makes it much easier for me to plane out my day/days.

Im on the elog , so they can see my hours, but they don't look at them. I also give FM my hours in advance but that still doesn't work. Now i have been dispatched on a load at 625 miles per day. I did a mac 32 (no) and they are having a hissy fit. I guess my FM isn't as good as others.:biggrin_25510:

for all you wondering how Marten is reporting gains in their quarterly earnings well read this....
1- they say you will make .39 mle... here is the break down of that... you will be on a pre diem pay and you will be charges .02 cents per mile for being on it... you have no choice... your per diem will be .14 to .16 per mile and the remaining regeular pay.
2- As for the Home time guarantee.... forget that they cut it last year so now they wont pay that...
3 - they now report that they will be paying $100 a day for layover... I left the company with them owing me several layovers that they never paid....
4- I came in on home time and the oportunity presented itself to buy my own truck and lease on with a company... when I inquired about leasing on with Marten the answer was no because they had a hiring freezew on for O/O... so I cleaned out my truck and detailed it out in better condition than when I got it and turned it in along with all the equipment that was issued to me... they charged me $700 for truck retrieval and put on my DAK abandoned truck...
So in short ... on a scale of 1 to 10 I give them a 2 for the way they treat the drivers... and oh by the way .... It was noted by a very reliable source in Mondovi that one of the head honcho's was quoted as saying "their aint one driver out ther on the road worth over $500.00 a day...
I can prove all these statements so you just take it from a 20 yr 2nd generation vetran driver for what it is worth....10-4
