basically I am looking for any reason NOT to quit TMC once my 2 years is up, and this is the only reason I can think of, anyone do John Deere? am I out of line to say either I get put on John Deere or I am gone? I always enjoyed hauling the stuff, difficult to secure sometimes but good customers, consistent well paying loads, and I am getting real #### sick of lumber tarps real fast.
not in the best position to be making demands right now, but I see the quality of drivers they are hiring lately, and I am safe and always on time.... never occured to safety or management that we have rolled 5 trucks since the first of the year because we can't afford experienced drivers?
John Deere TMC dedicated after 2 years?

I don't know if it's out of line, but you have to decide for yourself if it's that or move on. The only times I've hauled JD I've really enjoyed it, like you said sometimes a pain to secure but it's nice not having to mess with tarps that don't pay a fraction of what they should. There's gotta be some JD dedicated guys on here, also you could be looking at an RGN with a dedicated JD account.

your going have to look for a smaller company (IMO).

I dont know how often you would get home in NW Pa, I enjoyed it but home time sucked 3-4 weeks minimum out and I lived in Philly area

where go the john deere load usually take you

the deer loads will generally take you to wherever the load needs to deliver & there you'll be.

Not for TMC...but I hauled a lot of John Deere stuff out of Davenport, IA (both farm machinery and heavy equipment) for Schneider's heavy haul division, and Maverick after they bought Schneider Specialized...every load I got went west (OR, WA, MT, ID, etc)
Those were my most enjoyable years as a driver...by far. Paid great, weekend layover pay for oversize loads that couldn't move on weekends was $120 per day, awesome miles (average length of haul was 1,100 miles at the time), I never had to wait to load or unload the heavy equipment...I loaded and unloaded myself, NO TARPS,...and best of all, PLENTY OF TIME TO KILL (thats the curse, or the blessing of oversize loads....which it is, depends on your perspective)
I made $68,000 in one year...as a Schneider driver (and was laying on my arse in a motel watching TV most weekends, hiking in the Bighorn Mountains on other weekends). All were good years as far as income goes, but that was my best one.
EDITED TO ADD: This post IS NOT intended to start a TMC vs. Maverick pissing contest...its just me babbling on about the good ole days...thats all. I do miss running to the west, I love those mountains, the deserts, the snow...even the rain (WA). Again...not any sort of slam against TMC...just me remembering when I truly loved and still enjoyed this job.Last edited: May 28, 2010
