... then save yourself the trouble and stay unemployed. That way you won't get "screwed."

Here is the million dollar question of the evening..... IF "Little Trucker" is correct and ANY company will screw you no matter what given the chance, then why even bother driving?

In my brain that just doesnt make sense for a company to do that. I am not saying people don't get screwed, just saying they wont screw you no matter what. A company has to stay profitable. In order to do that, they need drivers. If ALL drivers are getting screwed then why work for that company? You wouldn't. I wouldn't.

Prime and other "starter" companies pay a lot and invest a lot in your training. Yes, they prolly get kick backs from the Fed and who cares. After all that investment and training... why screw you and then you go work elsewhere and make another company money? Just doesn't add up in my book.

    Hey TruckerMike,
Would there have been any advantages to getting your CDL's at prime instead of somewhere else?

Just put together the math. They aren't spending all this $$$$ on anyone. The first 4 days they are paying for your food and you stay at a place they own. Then you go on the road to be trained but they are only paying the person training you $300 a week a total of $1200 a month or about. Then you go out for about 4 months where you are actually team driving. Prime starts teams out at 19.5 cpm per person for every mile but you are getting 12 cpm or $600 whichever is greater. So you are already taking a 7.5 cpm cut in pay just to be "trained" more. In reality you are done trained once you have your CDL. Also paying $50 for you permit to them when in Indiana it's only $16. It's not as bad as most companies only paying $300-$350 a week after you get your CDL. They are all making $$$ off of not being experienced. They are all just getting a reward from taking a risk. Some (like Prime) just aren't using it to keep there business running.

FYI I'm not unemployed. I'll be unemployed for 5 weeks when I start with Prime because of training. I really can't see how anyone could make $$$ at 95 cpm. more like 150 cpm.
