There is a plus to working with Swift. It's large enough that if you need to get somewhere, they are likely to have something going that way. While I was with them the last time, I had a serious family issue crop up suddenly. There was a 2-month old baby who had about 1 week left to live. Swift got me there in time to say goodbye, comfort the baby's mother and kept me in the area until after the memorial, running local stuff. They gave me all the time off I needed and did not make me clean my truck out, even though it sat for almost six days.
If there is one complaint I hear from folks running for smaller companies, it is that the freight may not get them home for important stuff. I never had that problem with Swift.
Which is another reason I'm so happy to be going back. All I have left to do is book my travel tickets and turn in this truck. I'll be in Phoenix by Monday, ready to roll Tuesday.
Look out, Ms. Nana....I'll catch up with you out there someplace!

he probably thought is was going to be bad considering he didn't get any sleep since he was on the bus and they lost his luggage (BOO HOO). As far as he knows the mentor's DM said he is under investigation. That's all we know for know. I have been hounding him about that of coarse. but I will keep everyone posted.
Thank uptropixxx Thanks this. -
Congrats!!! I am so glad that things are looking up for him! I hope this is a good sign of how things will go for him in the future.

Ok on the phone w/ hubby the truck he got needs new tires and air lines. The truck has not been washed or detailed. Thinking they gave him a crappy truck on purpose. The mentor's DM is the one that assigned him this crappy truck. What kind of crap is that? There are more things that needs to be done to this truck.
Even though his DM said he will be getting a different truck when he gets back. And he doesn't have any of his stuff like clean clothes, his bedding and stuff they expect him to sleep in this truck w/o bedding. They won't put him in a hotel at least for one night. That is crap. Sorry for b----ing a lot, just figure i vent out for him.

All of us start with a sort of crappy truck. I nicknamed mine "Old Baby" because it was probably the oldest one in the yard. It was a 2003 Columbia. I drove it for three weeks and asked to go to Phoenix because by then I had a grocery list of stuff to be fixed on it. They put me in a motel, paid me down time and fixed everything on my list. That truck ran like a champ when I got it back.
She had her own personality with the duct tape on the dash board, dents and scratches in the fenders and bumper and all the rattles. But I ran that truck for six months. I didn't want to give her up when they sent me to Phoenix for a brand new Volvo. Of all the trucks I've driven since then, I still miss Old Baby. Never had a problem pulling a hill and always averaged 7.25 on fuel. Forgot to say: Old Baby had 675K miles on her when I got her....Last edited: Jul 1, 2010
