I would like to think TEXAS-NANA for ur best reply. You r so nice and would like to hug u back.
He sent me Pics of his truck after he got it repaired and cleaned up inside and out and doesn't look bad. (except for the neon green seatbelt) LOL:biggrin_2559: But understand why they have that. it is a 2009 volvo w/ a little over 200,000 miles. That is all I know for now.
    And Thank u cookie278 too.

I'm not always nice....there are many who can atest to that! :biggrin_2559: However....I can remember the puzzlement of entering into trucking and.....well my husband was a police officer when I married him. I can't begin to tell you how much I resented the ill treatment people gave that man. I once stood with my grocery cart and actually considered ramming a woman and knocking her into the frozen food bins. She'd told lies about him to the city council. We women love our men and get a bit testy when we see them treated less than they deserve.

As for the truck: isn't that neon green just sooo pretty? LOL I hope you get to ride with him sometimes once he's use to the road.

Hate to brake this to you Joints but I am trying to get back into trucking with 8 years no accidents but all company's want at least 1 year in the last 3 and some are even more stringent. Jump off your truck and don't drive for a few years and see if anyone will hire you without sending you at least out with a trainer/mentor for a while to catch you up on the new rule changes if nothing else stay out ten and you start again at the bottom just like you never held a CDL:biggrin_2555:

So, after reading 19 pages, what is the current status of this fine young driver ???

Is everything now okay-dokay with his job at Swift ??

I do believe that it would be a good lesson for many noobies to hear how this turned out.

    Thank You very much !!!!

Judging from my own experience with a Swift mentor, it is very difficult to get off your trainer's truck after six weeks locked in a space with him that is the size of your average bathroom and not hate him. I couldn't stand the sight of my mentor for months after I got off his truck. In fact, to this day, I refuse to have a W900. Every time I've been inside one since then I remembered the times I racked my head on something, tripped over the little step going into the sleeper, backed into a shelf....and had to check to make sure I still had teeth after driving all day from all the rattles and bumps. What a rough ride!

I left Swift for two years. Now I'm back as O/O and have the truck I wanted: a metallic orange Prostar. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Tell hubby to keep his chin up, let the crap roll off and drive on. Regardless of what people will say, Swift is not a bad company to work for if you're willing to work.

The guys you hear b****ing about Swift are one of two types: The guy who got fired for log violations, accidents, service failures or just unwillingness to work or the guy who was never employed by Swift and just b****es about them because he thinks it makes him sound cool on the radio. There are a few out there who have genuine gripes about something, but most of what you hear is just trash talking.

I hope to see hubby out here sometime. And Ms. Nana...I'd love to meet her in person. She sounds like a kick in the butt!

You forgot a third type: Those are the ones who are incapable of developing an original thought. They can only jump on bandwagons and go with the crowd.

I guess there's also a fourth type, now that I think about it: Those whose personal records are in such a shambles that neither Swift nor any other carrier that has hiring standards will hire them.

Swift is a training company, yet has a better safety record than many, many (over 100) carriers with 500 or more power units. Some of those carriers won't take drivers without at least a year or so of experience. Seems to me it should be the other way around. Swift, with its' massive number of newbies, should have a worse record if all the reports from Types 1-4 above are accurate.

complacency can be more dangerous than inexperience

the day you get careless is the day you tarnish your record

most new guys are too wide eyed and scared to focus on anything other than driving
