What? Why? Why country clubs and golf courses? Who thinks it makes sense raise hand.
Didn't you say that Rand build this "trucker's" units from ground up?
Where did they get the map from? "Rich White Men Guide Across the USA?"![]()

If you think about it a park, airport, golf course, etc etc do not fall under car POI's. A car POI would be a gas station, mall, store, etc, etc.
I thought you wanted to return your TND? So, why all the interest now?
Thanks,
Mark -
I do want to return it! I'm waiting for YOUR response. I already sent you an email with all the info you've requested. If you didn't get it, tell me and I'll send it again. Now it would be the best time to do it coz I'm home for a week.
I'm still using it for now. And since I don't trust it's routing abilities, I use it basically to quickly find a truck stop on my route. This unit is EXCELLENT for that. I'd easily pay $100- 150 for a device which does JUST THAT. No other bells, whistles, big screen, timers, logs.... necessary.
I'm just wondering why it shows useless information like that. IMO it slows down the device which is already pretty slow. Especially in 3D. If I want to look up something on the map, I always have to switch it to "North up" so I won't have to wait forever.
Look. I understand landmarks, towns, rivers... but golf clubs???? What were they thinking? No other device I was (am) using shows that kind of crap. It's totally USELESS for a trucker.
You know I'm right. Can't you just admit that just this once? Maybe even let "them" know to get rid of it?
I know, I won't be using it for long anymore (hopefully) but I'm not completely selfish. I'm pretty sure NO TRUCK DRIVER has ANY use WHATSOEVER for information like this and drivers who like this device would prefer it to be a tad bit faster over having full screen of absolutely useless golf and country club names.
And I did think about it. If. parks, golf courses or country clubs aren't POIs, what are they then? Landmarks? BS. IMO they ARE POIs. Maybe only for rich white people but POIs nonetheless.

That information is build into the mapping database. It is not considered an POI per such. And yes truckers do golf.
Their are many many drivers out there. We cannot build an TND just for you. Things are added or shown to meet the overall view.
The showing of anything on the screen does not affect your routing. They are simply screen paints from the mapping database.
I mentioned before that 3D does have a conflict with lane assist. I would suggest running in Heading up or North up.
Please reframe from remarks that may tend to be viewed as racial. (rich white people). I try to run a clean thread here.
Thanks,

My 2 cents worth.
Mark ( but not -the Mark) -
parks and cemeteries etc ... ok. I understand. Golf courses I don't.
Especially when the display shows almost nothing else BUT golf courses and country clubs.
I'll have to take a picture and post it here for those who don't have a clue.
And I think as I stated before, I used quite a few GPS devices. Not ONE of them displays golf courses or country clubs unless I turn them on specifically.

I'm sure there is a couple of truckers who do golf. I can see it happening like this:
"Heck I've got a lot of time on this load." (talks over CB) "Break 1-9 anyone for a round of golf?"
(answer) "That's a big 10 Speedy Gonzales. Let's go to Royal Links. They have a parking lot for fifteen 18-wheelers there. Afterwards we could go to a country club. I haven't been to one for quite a while."
"Splendid!"
I'm sure most of the truckers purchase "truckers" GPS to use it to do their jobs. Not to go play golf or kick back in a country club.
Golf courses and country clubs are POIs and it should be possible to turn them off. Not ONE other unit displays them by default without an option to turn them off. It unneccessarilly slows down the display. BTW, I never said it affects the routing. Routing has its own issues anyway and I don't even want to go there anymore.
Racial remarks? Are you serious? Since when truck drivers became over-sensitive sissies? (I guess "#######" would be innapropriate here)
Btw, I used to work on a golf course. I never EVER seen a poor black people to play there. Or poor people of ANY color.
Golf is a thing (I refuse to call it "sport") of rich white people and everybody knows that.
Btw, I'm white.

Mark,
the ability to enter city by zipcode would solve a lot of the
"this address is not in there" problems
many times i have found the address is there just as a different suburb
and it can be very frustrating if you are in a hurry (I know I need to stop and smell the roses)
Just an idea to pass along
Thanks for your time
