Anheuser-Busch Nightmare

The breweries have changed since the 1970s when drivers could get a cup of beer in the Stroh break room in Detroit.

From 1985-1998, I drove for a beer distributor. The waiting was boring, but every trip was a round trip and I liked the job better than driving irregular route. If I arrived at the distributor at night, I unloaded barrels into the cooler. My job was eliminated when AB went with core carriers. I am surprised core carriers and interim warehouses are not covering all of the peak season loads.

 

Don't you wish everywhere was union? "Unions, making lazy people lazier since the 1800's"

 

We all are gonna get a bad load from time to time they should make us appreciate the good ones more.

 

Called milking the clock brother...don't haul Beer, too heavy, low pay, long waits, and no free samples

 

It was like a visit to the Olive Garden on a Saturday night. I am so glad I don't do OTR anymore.

 

Thats just the sad thing out drivers and dock hands, you nark one off they wont unload you... but if you get paid and you know theres no work for you after.. then go for it.

Ive just found being polite; and cheerful can go along way, and if it hits lunch time, I just pull out my lunch(after getting everything ready, and have a nice chat with them as well (this helps if you know you going to be there a few times a week, so they get to remember your face)

 

Good advice what goes round comes around be nice,patient,understanding especially if you know you might be coming back.

 

If you really want to get loaded pull you clothes off and go to bed,It wont be but a little while before they start.
