Hi. I was wondering if anyone has ever done this. I know people do it in cars, but what about in big trucks?

It would be done in an 07 volvo cummins isx.

Why would you want to go back to green? If your looking at cost its a short term gain.

If you do it(not recommended) you need to use low siclate antifreeze, not the cheap stuff an add SCA's. Not having the proper coolant will cause cavation.

Wow, ok. Thanks. I'll leave it alone then.

Is the red stuff the same as the dex-cool that can be bought at walmart?

So is the green if you buy the right kind.

I changed my cummins to green a year or so ago. It is the Extended Life version.

No, the red extended life coolant is not the same as Dex-Cool. The red they put in semi's have additives that greatly reduce cavitation on cylinder sleeve walls. The normal Dex-Cool has silicates in it. That being said, you can still get the red ELC at moderate pricing. The Global brand red ELC coolant that, for one, I know that Love's TS sells is on par with Delo, Rotella, Cat and the other Red ELC's out there. The FleetRite red coolant at International dealers is the same stuff as well. The coolant manufacturers will also tell you not to mix Dex-Cool with the ELC coolant in a large truck engine. And, if you add the additive extender at 300,000 miles, you do not need to change out the red ELC coolant for 500,000 - 600,000 miles. Just change the coolant filter once in a while with a blank coolant filter. Do not get the coolant filter with SCA's. That will ruin your red ELC coolant.

The brand you choose is your call. There really is no big difference between them since ALL the ELC coolant you can buy is made by 2 producers. Then it is bottled and labeled.

I went to the green extended life and no cavitation problems.

I suggest you do some research. I put 175,000 on it since.
