I mean no offense to anyone when i say this!
But i m willing to bet that far more drivers are unhappy with this so called profession and lifestyle and would appreciate better treatment, respect, and pay than does that say they are happy with it.
That is the beauty of this message board. We are allowed to express our opinions and we can discuss these issues hopefully without offending anyone else.
And here is the bad part of this message board: what is said here stays here! We could find a cure for cancer, and no 1 would notice except us!!! I seriously doubt that anything discussed here will ever have any significant impact on the rest of the world.
Let's face it folks this is pure entertainment!
Granted you might learn something once in a while, but the people that really need the educated about truck drivers and this industry will never read these words! That's too bad because there's a lot of knowledge here.
Oh well back to the argument, I yield the soapbox to the next participant.
Why a strike? The CSA 2010 will cripple trucking.

Well thank god they are worried about the motoring public's safety.
I was surprised to see the DUMB #$$ governor here in Ohio decide it was time to CLOSE two heavily traveled rest areas just West of Columbus last month. They did this right at the start of the busy summer travel season.
It really makes me wonder if ANY elected official has the ability to put two coherent thoughts together to make a rational decision.
Hey Strickland, how about bull dozing every inch of dirt that the state owns at these rest area positions and pave them to make room for additional truck parking. Oh I forgot, we need a dog walking area the size of a football field, and a 5 acre picnic grounds to take the family out to on a Sunday afternoon.
Give your constituents more parking and a clean crapper and call it a day. We don't need to pay to mow 10 acres of grass at these pull offs, just pave the darn things and move on.
Maybe you did not notice these boxes on the back of our cabs, they are called sleepers. It is called that for a reason. We sleep in them. We need a place to park the truck to do that. 13% of accidents involving trucks is caused by fatigue. That number is sure to go up with no place to stop when we are tired.
There are not enough truck stops here because Ohio makes it darn near impossible to get a permit to build a new one. That is unless you have a million dollars to throw at a "charitable" organization a politicians wife gets paid from.
Wake up man. Just pave the lots and save some state money at the same time.
Gheeeezzzzzzzzzzz.............truckerdave1970 and JimDriv3r Thank this. -
Skunk :
You did not read my post right. 2nd line says , What ?
OTR is DIFFERENT.........
The point was and still is, there have always been union trucking jobs out there. 9/5 ....
If that is what they want go apply for one and wait in line.
OTR is different and should be. Always has been . And yes we are right about it. Cry , stomp , carry on , call and write your elected and you will waste a lot of time and ink.
Rates are comming up for good trucking comapnies right now. If they are not for yours , OH Well.
I have seen a steady climb.
Next ,
Skip 1965...
Now there is an idea. This guy has a real issue that can be and should be dealt with.
I agree. Why pay for mowing all that stupid grass. Pour more cement and let us have a safe place to park. maybe even toss in a light or 2 .
What the heck a cammera may even be a help at times.
Go for it , I would back up this one. -
Hey :
I hate to bust your bubble. But, I am so happy , I have to sit one one hand just to keep from waving at everyone. :smt039 -

Your record follows you for 5 years... regardless of company you drive for now, or in the future. Just like your MVR. The COMPANIES record does not follow the driver, however the drivers record does.
The purpose is to track companies AND drivers behavior, both collectively and independently.
If you believe you have seen information that is different, please provide the publication information (Name, publishing organization, etc.) Also, please include page and section numbers that you found your information.
I am interested in reading what you found.

You who oppose are like the loyalists during the revolutionary war, taking the safe bet, as long as your set & your happy, the hell with the future & everyone else,
Psychology of Loyalism
Larabee (1948) has identified eight characteristics of the Loyalists that made them essentially conservative. Psychologically they were older, better established, and resisted innovation. They thought resistance to the Crown--the legitimate government--was morally wrong. They were alienated when the Patriots resorted to violence, such as burning houses and tarring and feathering. They wanted to take a middle-of-the road position and were angry when forced by the Patriots to declare their opposition. They had a long-standing sentimental attachment to Britain (often with business and family links). They were procrastinators who realized that independence was bound to come some day, but wanted to postpone the moment. They were cautious and afraid of anarchy or tyranny that might come from mob rule. Finally they were pessimists who lacked the confidence in the future displayed by the Patriots.
Thanks for nothing, the name of this thread is Why a Strike? I guess you guys answered it quiet well, you dont want one, should have been called Why rock the boat for that matter, but I'm glad you guys are in a nice dry boat while the rest of us are in the water drowningtruckerdave1970 Thanks this.
