Car, first off, if you wish to get messages to the other members, send them to any Staff member here. We will forward them!

Yes, it does get better. I am married to a driver who has been doing this for 9 years and we will have been married for 20 years in October.

It does strain things at first. Believe me, I have been at the breaking point many, many times.. you just have to persevere... I can tell you horror stories about the first year. After that, it has steadily gotten better. But that first year of adjusting is HELL.

Car and BIG RIGGER Thank this.

    Car, Ma'am
I know this is going to be weird coming from a Male trucker, but please allow me to offer some advice.
I know that at times, being married to a Trucker can be a real pain in the backside, Something Breaks and he is not there, when he calls it might sometime seem he does not care. This is not always the case you know how they say Men are from Mars, and Women are from Venus.

Well Being a Man, Married, and with Children being out on the Road driving presents a whole other group of stress, and Honestly Men we just do not know how to properly communicate with Women folk, If we tell you how much it is bothering us that the company has us out for so long, and that when we come home we feel like we are no Longer "the Man" of the house. IT is similar to castrating a dog, but not as painful. If he is under tremendous stress at work, I am more than confident that you and your Son get the unfortunate experience, of bearing the brunt of it. I can tell you this His Situation Can get better, and It will, you have to be supportive, I know you are thinking wholly christmas , I run this house when he is gone, I do Everything how much more can I support his butt, when he comes home, act as if nothing phases you, if he is sleepy or being a grump ### let it roll of your back unphased, then when he gets up in a Sweet and loving manner let your husband Know "We NEED to talk" Make the suggestion that he change jobs to be home more, ask him to consider a local job, anything to get him home more often, Let him know how important to you that this is. Let him Know that you and your son need him to be the Man you Married (however long ago) when you approach a negative with a Positive it is hard for someone to pose another negative or argue. See how he reacts, if he says he will work on getting home more great if not Have him Call me.

Now I will tell you why He Should Call me, I crapped on two relationships (marriages) with two great women, I know and I am still driving today, I had to get my priorities right (not perfect now ) and I had to want to be Married. This was my biggest problem, I am sure that your husband is a much better Man than I was, and I am sure that you can work this out, if you did not want to you would have never come on this Forum.

And for all you Drivers out there do not start flipping me crap about being a "good buddy" I am just trying to keep someone from screwing up like I have so many times before.

    Ok Back,
Thank god for honesty that's not sugar coated.

The last few days, I wouldn't wish the last 3 days on my worst enemy. Today, thanks to you all I am feeling better. Things are better.

This does not discount my feelings of how my husband has been treated. Management- you run your mouth and decide to take it out on a man doing the best work he can give you, then you best get off your plush couch and make sure you are doing YOUR job.
You may have wore both of us down to a point that I was going to hand someone I love very much to you, but now I am getting my game back, and I am taking notes.

Guyslady thanks for the shot in the arm.
Doc - Lesson one down, ready for two. (as for the good buddy, who survives when no one talks?)

Bigrigger, Can I ask you if the Conway Co. out of Fargo, ND treats people the same way? They are hiring and I am just curious what your opinion would be, as I see your location is Fargo, ND.

Thanks for any info you might have.

funny you don't see many complaints about conway TL on here. They are a big company.

The driver frequently gets the short end of the stick. He has to be perfect, the planners? DM's? Who knows!:biggrin_25526:

CFI longstanding format favors drivers who have never driven before. They are as much into brainwashing their new hires as they are into training job skills.
These new hires are convinced into believing they can do no better in the trucking industry, even when they sit weeks at a time they blame it on the economy.

Conway Freight is the owners of Conway Truckload which formerly CFI of Joplin,MO.Conway Freight would be pulling doubles primarly back and forth on a regular run.One of their drivers has reported in this forum he makes close to 100 grand a year.

Pulling long light loads with a single axle during the winter in ND.is not a picnic.I have wished I had started out this way when I was younger it would have been more rewarding money wise.
