Hey Sammycat,
Has there ever been a TTR member get together? I think that might be interesting.
It would probably have to take place over a stretch of days so all would have a chance to check in. And it would need to be centrally located to as many freight lanes as possible.
The parking lot would have to be HUGE!

Hey Wedge!
Not that I know of but according to several other threads- one is under general ''who have you met'' and there was another one about the The Balloon fest in (?)NM ( I think) that alot of the TTR Members have gone to and met up (Mastertech for one and he's a ''big wig'' here Yes Masterlock I am talking about YOU!!)
It would be fun to meet some of the people you get to know on here as it's amazing to see how much you get to know some of the people (some are not as forthcoming as others and that's okay!) Then there are folks like me-lay it all out cuz what the heck- I am who I am and if you met me in person I really am no different than on TTR! (why bother making up pretenses too much time and effort!) It's so great to put a name, voice or face to our ''Member'' names!
Chris has a standing dinner on me if he ever makes it my way, as do a few other Members and same to you Wedge- you ever around my part of the woods and dinner and drinks on me!
It would be fun though to plan like a time where as many TTR Member wanted to meet up. A few days event like you said near some major trucking route--maybe an idea for next summer???? Wedge start making plans LOL!!!Wedge Thanks this. -
Just curious, did you load go to a DC in Sacramento? Mine did, and it was a cluster the whole time...only 1 guy in the guard shack, and he had trucks lined up going in and coming out and it took me forever to get out as he was on his lunch break when I wanted to leave....

No, we took it too Galesburg Il of all places, pretty ironic actually, we delivered 40,000 lbs of corn from Idaho to a building surrounded by surrounded by hundreds of acres of corn. We kinda figured we were going to get a load of potatoes to take back to Idaho, lol.
As far as the scales went, we just skipped it there and Cat Scaled it because we're new and figured we were close.
Besides getting there in the first place the rest of the trip was a breeze. -
I've got friends in your neck of the woods. Three friends of mine live in upper state NY (all brothers). Two live in your area, and one in Albany. My friend who lives in Albany I see on a regular basis. Well, I used to before I moved down south.
A TTR member "gathering" (and that is a loose interpretation of the word) would be very fluid in nature. Getting all of those interested in attending in one spot at the same time would difficult, unless it were scheduled far enough in advance so that members could adjust their itineraries accordingly.
It's going to take some serious resources. Not everyone's going to show up driving their minivan, SUV, or the family station wagon. There will be plenty of diesel cars showing up, with wagons attached. You can expect there will be entire families attending, so there would need to be nearby lodging available and picnicking facilities for the event itself. Someplace that could be used every year if the event turns out to be big hit. If it's done right, it could become an industry icon. An event that's expected to happen each each year.
It's a multi-faceted problem. But I'll tell you one thing. I wouldn't miss it!sammycat Thanks this. -
It could be one heck of a promotional event for both. Get the truck companies in on the deal as well. I've read SO MUCH on here about the loss of unity in trucking. Well....let's start working to get it back!!
Imagine for just one weekend, maybe a 3 or 4 day one, cutting out all the competition and just letting (like us bikers) all the "Bothers & Sisters" truckers get together for some family fun. Heck, there could even be a charity tied to it and speaking from experience, NOTHING is a better feeling than helping folks while doing what you love!!
Dreaming?? Perhaps but, anything is possible. I never thought our last "Ride For Hope" would have such a turn out. It was for this heart melting sweet little 13 year old girl with MS. We had over 1500 BIKES attend and between passengers and 4 wheelers, over 3800 people!!!
Her parents were so overwhelmed by the love and financial support they received they simply couldn't get through speaking at the end of the event without the tears just flowing. As I write this, I'm welling up.sammycat, Wedge and Blue Screen Thank this. -
OK, but at least one of us is gonna be REALLY uncomfortable!.....sammycat Thanks this. -
Okay if you note the time stamp it was late and I was most likely grammatically challanged along with my well known on TTR spelling challange (no spell check does not work on my laptop!) That's it have fun at Sammycat's expense cuz the fine points of the English language IS NOT my best asset!!
I think we should put Wedge to work on this get together!
I do like your ideas Chris!
Hey PM the mods and see what they say? If it was advertised ahead of time people might attend?????Wedge Thanks this. -
I won't have the time to PM th mods but perhaps...you could? And yes, events like these take a long time to set up. That ride for hope took about 5 months. I imagine something of this nature could take up to a year. But MAN!!! would it be worth it!!Wedge Thanks this. -
Now that is one get together I would definately attend. What a blast it would be. Like you said, putting faces with names helps out a lot. Most of the people I have met on here have become like a regular family. I enjoy coming on here and seeing how everybody is doing. Good luck as you head out Chris.

I agree completely DM. It's funny in this "digital age" we now make friends without even seeing them. I have friends all around the country from my wood carvers forum. I have friends all around the world from my FOREX forum. Many of them are now like family to me and yet, I've never met them at all. I'm actually hoping to do so in this new career. A 34 hour in various parts of the country may allow me to.
I have invites to come visit and stay all around the globe if I ever get to a point where I can afford the travel.....LOL
I have one brother who lives in Malaysia. He tells me all the time to come see him. He says the food is great, the women wonderful and you can live like a KING on 300 bucks a month!
Thanks for the good wishes sir! It should be an...adventure?? LOL
