Question for people that got CDL's with Swift

    Hello all.

    I am thinking about going to Swift for training. Do I have to have my CDL permit before I go? Or do I get the Permit, and CDL there? Also how much cash would I have to take with me if I goto training there?
    Please advise.

    You'll need your permit and DOT med card before you go to one of the academies. From the day I started the academy to the day of my first check I probably spent $500, maybe a little more.

    OK so if I get my Pertmit here in WV, will I get my full CDL where the school is, or do I come back to WV to get tested for CDL?

    I wouldn't go to swift, I'd check a local community college and federal funding. Then look at more than one company. The trucking mills will screw you. I live in charleston and they have a PIA school.

    Well man I would love to goto P.I.A. or even MOV Trucking Schools.
    My issue is I can not get student loans at the time, and or Grants. I will have to go through a Mill to get my training.

    PIA is a driving school in Clarksburg WV. They cost out of pocket $3000+ or something like that.

    IMHO there's a great many trucking mill schools that are not company owned schools. And some of those schools will use both a phillips head and a flat head on ya.
