I am a student at the moment and very interested in TMC. I am wondering if TMC has APU's...I know there are many " no idle states". What happens when your stuck with -30 degree or 80+ weather and no way of keeping comfortable??
Does TMC have APU'S???

As far as I know TMC does not have APUs on their trucks. The states do not care if you are hot or cold. They do not want you to idle. You just have to learn which states/cities are strict and others don't really care. They might have some other form of no-idle technology.

They were doing a test run on Idle Aire, or something like that. Not really an APU per say, but like a bunk warmer. Not sure.

You would think with the money they spent to have Eaton Vorad Collision Warning on all trucks they could have let that one go and have apu's on the trucks.

One example would be the "lane change camera thingie" they have on some trucks. It's never worked as intended on mine, or anyone else's that I've talked to, and even if it did, it would still be nearly useless. Another example would be their old "truck washed once a week no matter what" policy. At least now we have the option to go two weeks, but can still get it washed once per week, if we want to. -
Do they have bunk heaters, or at least let you have an inverter installed?

I spoke with a recruiter on Friday and she said no inverters allowed.

Good to know. -
T.M.C has installed 100 apu's in certain trucks they are electric mostly long hood trucks like mine.. The air runs for 10 hours on a good charge and the heat burns diesel fuel.. Like now i am in california for the weekend with a trainnee in my truck and we are running the apu as i write this. It is 95 degrees and we are comfortable.. It has been said in a meeting that i attended the new trucks when we get them will have similar apu's like have from the factory..

last I heard you couldn't even have an inverter that plugged into the 12 volt socket. Is that still true? I assume these apu trucks have inverters on them, or is it just for the AC?
