School is going well RASPAS. It has been a very pleasent experience so far the instructors are very good. My class is scheduled for our CDL road test this coming Weds. After this week we have 1 week left. I have yet to see the terminal. What was your impression of the company overall on your little tour of WSE?

The terminal was not impressive, old but adequate. My first impression was they put their money in the equipment and not the terminal itself. On the yard were several new Mac Visions, and they had several new super singles. The shop looked good and very well equipped. The staff was busy but friendly. Overall my impression was I made the right decision going with them. I think they will be a good "fit" for me. Their are a lot of "starter" companies out there, I have researched all of them, and WSE looks to be one of the best to start with. Good luck this week on your test!! Look forward to meeting you on the 15th.

Sounds good. See you on the 15th . Central Tech will have you come up on the 14th to get all your paperwork finished and the DOT physical a UA done. Then they will let you check into your room. Also glad to hear it looks like they put their $$$ into equipment and a fancy building.

I have been with wse for 3 No the now I thought I made the right decision but after I left my trainer I realized I was wrong. See we were getting 3500and up for miles a week and I was done with training in 4 weeks which was great I got a new Mack pinnacle with APU UNIT I thought I was styling but as soon as I got on my own miles disappeared. I average about 250 miles a day for over the road and never leave the south east section. And from what I hear its not just me. The only guys I hear that are making over 2000 miles every week are veterans who have been here for 4 or more years and trainers every one else has my same complaint we sit more then we ride and are making an average of $7hr if you figure that's min wage and you like the puppet on your fleet mgrs strings infact I'm hearing wse drivers saying more and more on how they have been dead heading 350 for a 250 mile load it just didn't make spencerb from a business stand point. I started to realize the company gets stuck with all the loads that no other trucking fleets want like the 6-700 mile loads with a 4 days deli dry time frame and yeah no delivery can be early because they are mostly live loads which is another reason this place is no good you sit for 2-3 hrs to get loaded and another 2-3 to get unloaded.so I see in the truck stops a job guide mag and who is on there. WSE saying new drivers get at least 500 miles + a day so I complain to my fleet mger and his response was you have been dispatched 5200 miles from this date with was 20 days back not including the couple of days I was siting before I got that first load so I reply saying that is only a 250.270 average a day for a OTRdriver they should be running me like crazzy being at the bottom of the payscale from another business stand point but all the veterans making $.35 are getting them so I then look into he turn over rate at WSE And I find out they are long the top turn over rated company's but aren't really noticed because they aren't as large of a fleet as others. I want to say that it is my belief that they are only hiring new drivers to make money off them, the government give like $10k for every new driver a company hires that's hoe they offer reimbursement for tuition reimbursement. But no one ever last that long. In fact I heard that from my trainer. Who also says he doesn't want to train any more but if he stops training he will loose lots of miles. Its almost like they try to make a good impression on new drivers while drive Ingram and then once training is complete they get thuere cut from the government and your there to be dicked around in any way or form possible they figure no one wants to quit go with another company and have to train all over again or if they do the more money in there pockets because the less tuition reimbursed but my beef is no miles here unless you train or have been here for 4 or more years and I honestly think Shaw is in the new driver business simply for the money just my opinion and I tell it like it is good luck I remember that feeling after training saying to my self why didn't It with so and so

Ok new hires, I will let you ask me anything you want. I am not a recruiter. I don't believe in lying and I will be truthful. I have been with WSE for 8 years. Central Tech is a kick ### school. Tell Mr. Brown 'Hi' for me.

The pay did go up. I am not sure it went up for us O/O's. DO NOT by any means do the lease purchase deal. No company should offer that to anyone. No, I didn't do the Lease deal.

So let me have it. I am a big girl and can handle all questions.

    terribee,

I am still waiting for confirmation, but tentatively have orientation scheduled for the 21st. in ATL. I am a new driver having graduated Sept. 3 from TDI here in Sanford FL. There is not a lot of info on the boards about WSE and what is there is mostly positive. Is WSE really a good co. to work for? Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. You can also pm if you want.

Can you explain why you advise against the lease program?

I know, just curious as to the issues against specifically with WSE as that is where I am going! I want to end up with my own truck in a couple of years and just curious as to the ups and down of o/o with WSE.

Yeah I know what you mean. If you do decide to go o/o do like most people advise and lease from the dealer, not the company.

Then again I'm still a wannabe soon to be student myself, just what I've read more than enough times. :biggrin_25523:
