I have been perusing this forum for a couple of days now and the more threads I read the more I wonder about this industry , is it really as bad as most posters make it sound or is this just the place for disgruntled truckers to vent? I'm just finishing my training and will be taking my road test next week. I enjoy driving these big rigs but all the negativity. Anyone out there like what they are doing? or think the money is Ok?

I love driving, really do. But from time to time I (like many others) get frustrated with ####### four wheelers, other truckers, shippers, receivers and my very spazzy boss. But in the end I always love driving them big trucks.

Just like any other JOB there are days ya wanna rip your hair out and YES people do complain, just like cops, the farmer, the social worker, the bus driver, the cook or the waitress..........they are all JOBS, WORK not always fun but IF you enjoy the line of employment in general any of them can be a great way to make a living....good and bad.

While I agree with some of the negativity in this industry, I tend to disagree with you as well. Their are plenty of positive people in this industry who like their jobs and themselves. Who usually will give you good advice or a helping hand in strapping your load down, or helping you with your load. I tend not to focus or let those folks with negativity bring me down. They are usually part of the problem and not helping with the solutions............. :biggrin_2558:

I'm content with my driving job and make decent money. Granted I'm not going to retire rich but I'm happy .........

By the amount of responses it looks like I was right. Mostly Grumpy Truckers that don't like their employers or their jobs. I was hoping to hear from more than a couple of satisfied members.:biggrin_25524:

You know if you got a normal 9 to 5 job you get home every night. At dinner you spill your beans about all the goings on at work. This amongst people who usually appreciate you and agree with you right or wrong. They just accept that Sue in reception is a moody b###h who shows you up every opportunity. They make all the right sounds when you explain even though you are the only competent one in the whole company you never get the recognition of brown nose Jim.This may or may not be true but at least you get it off your chest.Sit at a dinner table and listen , it is a wonder that anything ever gets accomplished with all the idiots in the world.

Now out on the road weeks on end who do you blow this steam off with. This forum is perfect.People understand and identify with your frustrations and issues. A lot of the complaining should not be taken overly seriously.Take it from where it comes.

And yet a lot would COMPLAIN if they had the best job , boss , company in the world.

There are forums for other types of EMPLOYMENT as well as trucking , you read same things on them ,seems if anyone posts a POSITIVE gets 200 NEGATIVE replies.

pros! is the best job you can dream of
cons! the people that run it are the screw ups
eg.dispatch are never straight forward, some companies you have to buy loads(kiss the disp butts), some promise you heaven when they hire you, then they'll stick it to you, some the only thing they have driven its a pick up(truck) but they thik you can do miracles till you @##$ up then you are on your on, whenever you're told you gonna make a lot of money(make your owndefinition of what a lot of money is)

I like what I'm doing, I only work 4 nights a week and then have 4 days off. I make almost as much as I did working 5 days a week driving and way more than I did working behind a desk. I only drive about 40 km's a night now and most of them are in reverse:biggrin_2559:. Driving is what you make of it, just don't get caught up in the BS at the terminals or truck stops or the whining drivers (work in the same place long enough and you'll realize it's usually the same few guys complaining about everything) wah the sky is too blue... wah my ice cubes are too cold. Just my 2 cents worth.
