I just wonder why diesel cops think they are doing a good job when they give a driver a log book ticket. I mean really, the dispatcher and or the company they are hauling for knows exactly what the driver is doing. And most likely the Dispatcher and the owner of the company is threatening the driver with termination if the driver doesn't fudge their log book. In reality diesel cops are guilty of playing along with the ticket game. because they go after the driver instead of the owners. If you don't agree please reply.
Why ticket the driver

well if you get caught with a fudged log book--you need to learn how to draw better lines and be more creative
and points also go on the companys profile as well
i had a nice dot write me up for 3 log book violations --no fine at all--but it sure made the safety guy quiver a bit -
the dispatcher can always say, "hey, you're the driver, you KNOW what to do"
the owner might say, "if you are going to cost us money in downtime, because YOU CANNOT LOG, then we don't need you".........
why on earth would the DOT cop go after the company owner or dispatcher....??? they ain't breaking any laws, they ain't the driver.
if this is all because YOU got a a ticket or two for logbook violations.............
you should have done it correctly..........simple.
the "diesel cops" ain't playing no freaking games, they are ENFORCING the rules, regulations, laws........
by your way of thinking, anyone driving a 4 wheeler that blows through a stop sign or red light should be let go as well, becasue the driver of the car was way more IMPORTANT than a stupid traffic control placed in his way........?????old-six-pack, Everett, dieselbear and 1 other person Thank this. -
One of the reasons we are in this mess is that drivers do what they are told, they are to scared to stick up for themselves.
If an dispatcher tells you to do something such as exceed your hours ask them to put that in writing, then call the saftey manager or owner and explain what has transpired. If you are still told to break the law go to your neares DOT Scale and explain to them what happened. However do not go to the DOT scale if you have faulty equipment.
However if the dispatcher won't put it in writing take the load, now this might sound cruel make sure that if it's their truck that during the trip somewhere it breaks down. That's just my .02old-six-pack Thanks this. -
Exactly what I was thinking...but 30 minutes later! -

>>>>What I am saying is if many drivers don't fudge their books they will be FIRED.then they will get some stuff on their D.A.C.
My inexperienced guess would be it's better to be fired for not fudging your books than for fudging them...
Can you give an example of why you would have to fudge it?... -
You are fined $400 if you are late delivering.
You turn down the load you sit all weekend.
This happens everyday in the meat business.
Do you want the $500 lost wages and possible $400 shipper fine or the $150 out of service fine? Most likely you'll get fined for busting your 11 or 14 and not falsifying, IF caught.ky wildcat 4ever and ronin Thank this. -
Anyway Mag...*that's much better*...look at his info box...it shows student, so therefore, you are correct! but on the other hand...how does a student learn if not by asking questions? the only bad question is the question not asked!ronin Thanks this. -
And don't some trucks have a gizmo in it where DOT, even during a routine stop or inspection, can request a copy of it which would give away your lies?...My friend at Maverick showed me something like this but I can't remember the exact name of it...ronin Thanks this.
