I've been a KW fan for along time, but I like a larger cab than they build in anything. So far the problems have all been Cummins related - but anything under a hood can have the same issues. Seems like I just lost the used truck lottery in some areas :p.

I'll be able to get the problems chased out and corrected, she's still a good truck. Talking to my local mechanic about getting my driveline rebuilt and balanced, hopefully that's the vibration issues I've been having. Once that's solved I'll be looking for a different shop to run the intake test and dyno pull. May even pick up some new batteries for the winter months ahead.

Forgot to ask in the past - anyone heard from Kansas lately? I know he was looking for a new gig and he's been absent for awhile - hope things are well. Best to everyone out there and travel safe!

I've seen him pop up a couple times around the forum but I dunno what he's up to. I've gotta find something else to do myself. I've been off since Friday. They've just run out of work.

Yeah R.W.,she just quit eat'n:biggrin_25513:,she had metobolic problems(milk fever and ketosis),plus, dad said she was milking real hard too soon after calving, just too much stress too fast,i guess. When i was still milking all the time,I was the one who always hit the vein when we gave I.V's. to the cows, but since i started hauling,i ain't around the dairy much and i think they waited too long before they doctored the 'ol girl for milk fever(a stitch in time saves nine), so to speak.

As for corn futures, maybe cowdoc is still tradeing and was ''long'' on corn last week and can just send all of us here on the hopper thread some of his earnings:biggrin_255:. I will buy me a new Bears jacket with my part:biggrin_2559::biggrin_25525:

We had to open her up,but she's doing better, well at least thats what dad said. I have been getting up at 3am every morning and leaving early so i can turn 2 loads/day for the last 10 days so i have not had time to even ''look'' at the cows:biggrin_25524:. Glad your winding down with harvest, sounds like ya'll's weather is like ours, doc. Our last measurable rain was on August 23rd,its dang dry here too! Wheat looks terrible,at least what's still alive:biggrin_25513:. If you were long on corn last week,i promise to wear a Saints hat with my Bears jacket,if you are feeling ''generous'':biggrin_255::biggrin_2559:

Wheathauler, it looks like rates are starting to sag a little, around my neck of the woods, now that harvest is winding down:biggrin_25521:. Fuel was $3.05 today. Talked to a feller in line today in Owensboro and he said his company had cut his FSC 5% this week,I have never understood how they figure that stuff:biggrin_25513:,I mean, fuel has went up,whats the deal with that? Well,I hope everyone stays safe out there,it's deer season again and i'm starting to see 'em all over the roads:biggrin_25524:

As near as I can tell, FSC is supposed to be calculated on anything above $2.00/gal and 5.5mpg. Personally, they just calculate, or don't, as they see fit - leaving us to feed the pumps out of our profits. I doubt they'll change anything until freight starts to pile up and they can't find anyone to starve themselves hauling it. In the past, I've had back to back runs from the same place carry an FSC and then not depending on the day?!?

Fuel here is 3.09. The rates are heading down here too. The dryland wheat in SW kansas is not good it's not to bad here yet. It's been really dry though. They have planted a lot of wheat around here, if it all comes up will have plenty to haul next summer.

Have any of you guys pulling hoppers been around the small portable conveyors that let a hopper bottom dump into a fixed conveyor where you would normally need a dump trailer? Like this:

    http://www.tceconveyors.com/conveyors/bulk-handling/series-CU.php

Interested in something that could unload dry fertilizer. I know they're out there, but its hard to google hopper bottom conveyor, so many other kinds of conveyors come up.

I'd never had that come up with our beef cows. After reading your first post, (revealing my ignorance) I didn't know what a "DA" was, I thought maybe you had to put her down. At least that wasn't the case! :biggrin_25519: Glad you're staying busy, need any help? :biggrin_25525: Just kidding, I've got a few possibilities lined up around here, but nothing big.

Dairyman I'm just spreading right now. Chicken I guess. One of our local grain haulers got killed today near Kennett, Mo. He'd been loading out next to us. Everybody be careful out there.

Changed oil today in truck. Getting ready to haul more beans and probably go to ethanol plant. The ethanol plant has been getting busier since harvest is winding down. They couldn't get trucks to come during harvest.
