Different regulations on your logs, which you don't have to log if the company keeps records of hours you worked. Do you know the local rules?

depends on the company, most within a 100 mile radius requires no log book some as far as 200 miles.................

How could it be 200? Only asking. I thought anything over 100 air mile radius or 150 air mile radius if non-cdl holder.

You don't normally have to keep a logbook, but some companies have you do one anyway.

Basically you can log on-duty time without marking change of status unless you go off-duty. This is for the short radius trucking, like running a dump truck, or hauling local delivery. It's pretty tough to log a few minutes driving on a 24 hour grid, but most jobs require as much not driving as they do driving, if not more.

You can work local and not be at home, you are just based somewhere and report to work on site every day you work.

That can be in other states as well.

it varies from state to state. each one has different rules. ex. in Pa you work over 12 hours you have to do a log book..........

Yeah I think that is Federal so Federal over rules state. I know how to log local. The poster asked what is the difference and I was asking him if he knew how to log local. I know there is state laws and if he is running local he should check into that, but he still can't break the federal law.
I think several thought I was asking what the rules was :biggrin_25513:
    Have a great night everyone
