OK, for any of you that have to get a sleep study done, I found a doctor that will do it for only $250.00. They send you the kit overnight and you sleep with it in your home for 2 nights and send it back so they can check the data.
At that point, if you dont have it they mail you the results so you have a copy for yourself, and they will fax a copy to the company. He is a board certified doc so nothing to worry about there.
If you do have sleep apnea, you dont have to pay $1500 - $2000 up front.
They charge $1200 for the machine. You pay them $500 up front and $100 a month till its paid. Im not sure if they charge interest, but probably so.
If anyone wants info on getting this set up, PM me and I will give you the number.

I am not sure where to post this so I'll start here and if there is a better spot on the board, please copy it there.
I found a site called truckingtruths.com. They have a lot of good info. The owner of the board built a "flash card" style study guide for the pre-trip.
http://www.truckingtruth.com/pre-trip-inspection/study-guides/flash-cards.html
Pretty slick, shows a Freightliner with all parts that are to be inspected labeled. There is a click-able item that say's, "show list of items" when you click on that it shows the items and the wording needed to get past the dot pre-trip test.
I f you know some about a truck it seems really basic. But, if you have never seen under the hood and don't know your Pitman rod from your tie rod its a good start. Seeing the parts with proper name listed and then the words to say made more sense to me than just trying to memorize the words. Anyway, I thought it worth a mention and just wanted to share.Johnny 99 Thanks this. -

Iowa the 90 day check is mot med hold it is when the company want's to monitor something. For me I had to check my blood sugar every 90 days. Med hold is when the company does not let you touch a truck due to injury, illness, or while waiting for Doc Feelgoods ok. When you go to the school if they put you on med hold it would only be for a couple of days while the company doc awaits results from your primary phys. When you are on 90 day checks you will get dispatched to the yard to see the doc. Hope that helps.

There was some talk about a passport and a passport card a while back. i went to get a passport today and be aware that you need a birth certificate issued by the State you were born in and not the one you may have from the hospital which is also stamped but not from the state. It's costing me $37 to get one from PA and probably about a week or more waiting for it to arrive. Then it's back to the passport center(some post offices) and another 3 weeks from then. So it will take some time.
I was going to get one of the Passport Cards but changed my mind because it doesn't allow you to fly into the country or internationally. So If you were in Canada and got sick or had an emergency back home you could not fly back in. So you never know. I figure if I have to go through all this I might as well get the book and pay the $80 difference and be set. -
Well I figure all this bad weather is finally going to catch me. I've been skirting it all week. Closest I got was between 2am and 5am this morning while driving south out of Roanoake. Some heavy rain there for a bit.
But I'm just south of Indy tonight. Have my final drop about 70 miles north of Indy tomorrow AM and by the looks of the sky and the wind...well, guess I better plan on some extra time.
Trouble is, I'm so short of hours tomorrow, I'll get this delivered, then to a TS and I'm done.
Da storm is gonna git me! -
all I have to do is look for the black clouds and I will find you. Indy was nice, clear, sunny and calm today as I passed through. Headed into NJ for a friday delivery. Running early, but as things go for me, no repower, was called today, about a load, but I could not make it from Hebron OH to NJ for an 0800 appointment, and fit a break in as I waited for the other truck. They found a team to do it. I can hope (slim and none) for one in the Morning going into NJ/NY.
Otherwise it is a short day Thursday, and then make my 0600 delivery Friday. -
All snuggly buggly here at America's Best Value. For those following behind me in training, Do not be late for class and do not fall asleep during Safety class. You will be help back a week if not sent home. Not enough room on the shuttle is not an excuse for being late

New update! Here at the motel waiting for a trainer. Along with everyone in the class. Seeing as how there are still quite a few left overs from last weeks O1 I really can't see getting one anytime soon. I'm cleared and hired and have my cards and seeing the trend as "hurry up and wait!" As for my physical.... I made it.... but not without a fight. There is a new young doctor trying to be a heron a put everyone on Med hold. He put one poor kid That admitted to having one migraine as a child on Med hold and sent him home until he came back with a clear cat scan.... completely ridiculous! As for me I had to argue with him for 10 minutes because he insisted I had sleep apnea. My BMI is a couple points off but I have had a 17 neck even when I was 190 lbs. I played football and still lift weights normally. So I finally got him to clear me and got the hire and my cards. But this guy is a flipping crusader and is looking to dq anyone..... for anything. So here I wait.... for a trainer. Still excited to get it goin though! Hope to see some of you around!
