The biggest problems with wheels coming off that prompted the whole law, were dump trucks with guys names that sounded like they were in the Godfather movie. So crack all you want about this drivers name, it does not mean squat but go to demonstrate your ignorance.
But..... on to the issue of the original report. I have heard the biggest issue is not the lug nuts but rather the hubs run out of oil and cause it. Has anybody else heard this or experienced this? -
Well to further DEMONSTRATE my IGNORANCE yes I have heard of the loss of hub oil causing a run away Wheel & Hub as well as witnessed it on a container chassis of 1 of CANADAS famous Can Haulers ( GARFIELD ) a few years back near Watertown NY.

guess i watched a different godfather--the one i saw had italians in it
you must be thinking of a bollywood movie or alladin -
-
not sure if it was leaking wheel seals or loose wheel nuts
but i know just after the rash of inicidents was when everybody got into the wheel retorque programs -
-
Was bad in the Toronto area with the Dump Truck operators for poor maint , and non valid insurance , multi permits.
-
If the wheel came off because of rusted studs, loose bolts, cracks in rim then the fine is $50,000 + + + .
This is what I was told by the MTO.Last edited: Nov 25, 2010
