Hello everyone looking at this thread
I would like to make known my experience with Stevens transport
    I started Stevens on may 30 2006.
Many promises were made about miles avail
They even told me that there was a deticated lane
Which was not true at all
I got my cdl from a driving school other than stevens
Paid hard money for it $5200.00
and they said they would reimburse the cost of schooling
    This they Never did
    Driver referals
    That was a joke
    I never saw a penney
Ok now I arrived on campus.
I was shocked on how it was layed out it was almost too good to be true
    And it was
    Day one
I do all paperwork and attend classes for 13 hours
now mind you I traveled there by greyhound and it took 2 days and 4 hours to get to Dallas texas
For the next 6 days it was 14 hour days and 6 hours sleep
Well I am used to that now since our life is rigurous
    but back to the experience
next after the 7 days of campus training is on truck training for 21 days
    with a senior trainer
This i didnt mind at all because I learned alot from him and I owe him for everything i know today

    Now the fun begins
when training with trainer was done we were sent home for 4 days
so i get home and call to get set up to get back
I make contact to my counciler
and he promised for 1 week that he is making plans to get me back
then Stevens contacted me and inquired to why i Quit
    I didnt quit
    now i am steamed
I contact the Head training dept
    This got resolved

    Phaze 2 begins
This is where a student is in a truck with an other student for 3 weeks
    This was a total nightmare
the trainee i was put with i had to teach him everything
    including watching his tandoms

    I survived this
to get to yard to have to deal with complience and the fuel dept yelling at me for poor fuel econ
    and lost logs
    and supposed log violations
Which was not my logs to begin with :/
    and fuel econ
This was not only me contributing to this
but the team driver never heard a word about it
my fuel econ was at 7.0 and his was at 4.0
but anyways this became the begining of a broken relationship
When i went into the fuel dept they cussed me out they told me i was usless and yet I was the one who had the better fuel milage
I warned them to watch the words they use at me
    this problem was resolved

now i begin on my own
I pick up my truck in armidillo tx from a dealer who had to totally rebuild it from ground up
    I didnt know this
A driver died in the truck i picked up
not conferting to know now as i sit back and look at it
    miles were low to start
    I sat alot
But this was ok because i was trying to get into the swing of things with otr

my miles started to pick up with in 2 weeks now i am doing about 2500 miles a week

in aug there was a problem where my truck was parked and slid back on ice and a car had parked in the semi side of the truck stop and my truck taped the car
I called the state troopers out to check the situation
and called stevens to get this known to stevens
and they automaticly said it was my fault even though the state trooper said i did nothing wrong and that it was a non chargable accident since i was no where near the truck when the problem happened and that the brakes were set
Stevens decided to charge me 500.00 bucks for it
I was mad at this point but I wanted to try to make it work
I didnt want the rep of being a company jumper
So they sent me for a pee test and drug test and full exam
    This was fine
now 3 months later i am getting the bill for it
    i called them
and mailed them it as they asked
    and even mailed it certified
now it sits on my Credit report
in sept my wife ended up in hospital in critical care
It took them 4 days to get me out from under my load
and there was a stevens driver in the truck stop waiting for a load where i got the news of my wife being in the hospital
    now I am livid
I live in the NE and they had me going to california
So i said i am not moving
my dm said if i do not get the load moving that they will have me removed from the truck
    so i contacted his superviser
and he told me not to move the load that they will relay it for me
that he had no right to tell me to get the load moving in this situation
So 4 days later i am finally heading twords the house to get to wife
and the QC goes off that I have a load assignment
    I ignored it
And I roll over a scale in pa i believe
    I got redlited
they pulled me around back lvl 3 me
and tell me i am running truck unautherized
and that stevens demanded i call them asap
    So i did
    Now i am totally mad
I told them i dont have time for their games to let me get to my wife
that my DM knew the situation and his superviser autherised me to go home deadhead
So they tell me to but dot on phone and it was done i was let go
I was not happy at all
    I was humiliated
I get home and mind you i was out for 10 weeks by now
First call on my answer machine was you need to hurry up that they cant have the truck sitting

I did what i had to do and left again
now my miles are drasticly cut
and my next load goes to the yard
which they sat me for 9 days
    no pay on yard
because they wanted to talk to me bout the slide back
    and re test my skills
    this is fine
    but 9 days?!?
    any ways
while i was there I decided to find out why my insurrence didnt kick in
come to find out they had no paperwork that i filed out when i started
and had to start all over again
    "shakes head"
    you havent heard the worse
they continued to tell me to get coverage i would have to pay for all coverage from the time i became avail
    which was 2 months prior
and that they would instate it now but charge me 2x a week
    till paid off
well in dec i was paid off
    and they slowed my miles
When hired i told them I needed jan 1 off because it was my annivercery
and they said no problem they would have me home by christmas or the day after
was promised this a few times
and then when it came to it i was sitting in pa on our aniversery
    at the ta truck stop
    not even a petro a ta :/
In apr of this year my truck started to have problems
My clutch assembly was coming appart
and stevens said to get it to a kw dealer
    i did
they made me pay for motel room
    for their truck failing
now i had not seen a paycheck for 3 weeks -+
because they kept saying i owed this and that
Which i didnt owe anything at all
I was getting sick due to the lack of ability to eat
and it finally cought up with me apr4 when i ended up in hospital
mind you i made it to house for home time
they came and collected truck because they didnt know how long i was going to be on med hold
    and well
this is where i found out how good my insurence is
I got approval for my doc apts and everything
    and even my surgery
then once it was all done
    Everything was declined
stating i no longer work for stevens
Now mind you they took my ins dues that very week
and i never got my last pay check nor did i get informed that i no longer have a job
So with that said please use good judgment when looking at a company who was started by some one who was in prison

From the sounds of the post, I can understand why you didn't get along. One thing I did catch that was a little odd. In august a car slid back on ICE? Where was this? Even N. British Columbia and the Yukon is free from ice in August!
I don't believe for a minute anyone at the fuel department yelled at you unless you were yelling first. People on the inside can lose their jobs for yelling at a driver.
You're running a truck without authorization and you're surprised? Ignoring the Qualcom is the same as thumbing your nose at them.
Hope you find a company that suits your needs. Obviously Stevens doesn't.
    Good luck.

I read it that his RIG slid on the ice and struck a car. Good eye on the "aug", missed that on the first read.

LMAO,pretty good chance this guy isnt going to be employed for anybody very long.Amazing he was at Stevens as long as he was.I think that speaks more to the character of Stevens than anything. If he had been my employee he wouldnt have lasted long.

LOL,gotta let you guys know that there are some good people at Stevens also.We have some good drivers, and the large majority of us are happy here.Gotta let you newbies know. You cant believe all the things you see in these threads. The bad ones are usually from guys that cant conform, and wanna blame their shortcomings on someone or something else.

    l<enny and clbell66 Thank this.

I bet he left his truck in neutral without setting the brakes on.

Yea this is a prime example of weeding out drivers. If he uses this story he may not be working any where. Not even McDonald's.
