well......i dunno......this summer and summer of 2009......more boats were "parked" than actually moving....and the boat show had so little attendance, admission prices were dropped to "get 'em in".....and they still didn't get the crowds...!!

Boats are known as "black holes in the water that you throw money into"! -
from what a boat repairman said on Pawn Stars to Corey,
"do you know the definition of BOAT"..????
Break Out Another Thousand -
There's the old saying...the two happiest days I had with my boat were the day I bought it and the day I sold it!

Speaking of money.. I have a 99 FreightLiner that I just got. Free by the way.. I was told it needs Brakes. Around how much am I going to be looking at to get them fixed?
-
starting prices are from $500 and up........
you NEED a mechanic to do a DOT inspection on the brakes and let the shop tell you (in a written estimate)
and i just have to add this.....
if you were "given a truck" and you plan on being an o/o.............
you had better get BUSINESS SMART REAL QUICK.......because if you have to ask prices on items for repairs, you very well may NOT have the money and the truck will sit for long periods of time, making for a BAD investment for you. i suspect the engine may be shot as well.......(just saying) -
Thank you Rerun- As far as my qualifications within the industry, I'm what is to be consider a wanna-be, however my credentials in the business arena is pretty solid. I'm the Director of Operations for a water sports company with annual revenues ranging over 2.5 million and hold a degree in business with a concentration in International Business . Yes the managment application for the trucking industry is different, non the less the objective and business practice is the same.
I'm not seeking to become a O/O but utilize the truck for a NPO that I'm establishing that will steamline funds directly into low income classrooms in Miami area.
There is a process called Due Diligence which has me posting my question on this forum. I'm well aware of my next steps in asking for quotes I just like to get a insiders point of view.
As far as the motor- It's running strong- and the truck was operational leased to Patterson until I got it or better said my NPO.
Thank for your input!
