Yeah panicrooster my thoughts are pretty much in line with yours i think most companies these days are pretty much the same it just depends on what colour bonnet you prefer they say there are 3 side to the story or truth 1.Yours, 2. Theres, 3 And the truth like one other drive mentioned in another post when you new to a company there going to try you out or test you out to see what your capable of . I remember back a few years ago it was the monday following Memorial weekend in May i'd brought a load up from LA to SLC ut no worries anyway our base was up in Logan Ut some 70 miles north of SLC no worries however my 70 - 80 hrs were almost up they insisted i do a hot load basically it was supposed to be there like yesterday i told them i couldn't make it by the scheduled time anyways i still took the load and had to doctor up my log sheet abit but still got there like 3 hrs late unfortunately the Coldstorage warehouse wouldn't accept deliveries after 12pm so waited another 2 days before they'd unload me not a happy chappie i can tell you however i pushed the case to my superviser who actually paid me layover time of about $50 when i finally got back to Logan some days later i reasoned with the staff there about how they'd feel if some driver who was doing a " hot load " and caused an accident which harmed 1 of there family members how they'd feel -interesting enough they saw the reasoning to the point and never ever gave me a hot load again. Sometimes its not what you say but how you say it that really works.

    Regards

[i was wondering about drug test now do they test for pain pills in thier drug test at super service?]

Why would you be concerned about being tested for pain pills???
If your doctor has cleared you to drive with this prescription you should have no concerns what so ever!
So what you are saying is that you are taking them illegally or you legally have the prescription but are planning to drive while on them without being cleared?
Which is, Oh by the way, ILLEGAL!
If and when you do drive like this and eventually wreck your rig hopefully it is off a cliff and not into a bunch of innocent people.
I would also be praying to whatever god you may pray to that one of those innocent people was not a member of my family because you would be hoping to find another universe you could hide out in!
To post this on a forum in what looks like a completely serious manner?
If you are at all surprised to get ripped for it would just show where your head is at in the first place!
With the position for this maneuver being slightly less than upright!

This is also not the first, second, third (and probably not the last) time I have seen this kind of crap in my career.
We had a driver at my last company that was on Morphine pills. Saw them with my own 2 eyes (along with a couple of other drivers) with his name on the bottle.
To make a long story short it was figured by his reactions (basically delusional) that something was definitely fishy.
When it was brought up to management guess what? They didn't care! From what I gather they did not see them and were not going to check into it (even though it was brought to their attention) because he passed his test to hire on and if he did lie about it on his application and/or long form they did not care because it would make them not liable (or so they thought).

I did learn through DOT that the only prescriptions a Dr. cannot clear are: Insulin Shots, Marijuana (what a surprise) and Methadone (WHAT!).
Let me get this straight. Not being a Pharmacist my best educated guess would be this: (A) Methadone and Morphine are both Opiates. (B) As far as I know there is not much difference between the 2 besides the fact that Methadone labels you as a former Heroin addict. (C) Of all the pills out there only 3 the Dr. cannot clear (If he determines the patients situation makes it OK). Maybe Doctors really are God!
So Oxycontin, Zanex, Valium, Percoset & Morphine are OK and Marijuana (prescribed) who's effects are not as severe and do not last as long as the others is not. Okie Dokie!

Surprise surprise! Looks like we have some pilled up drivers out there with their fingers on the trigger of an 80,000lb bullet & ignorant management that doesn't care as long as they don't think they could be held responsible.

Is anyone surprised by CSA 2010 (or now just CSA I suppose)?
Behavior like this led our government to believe something had to be done (I agree).
Is anyone surprised that when left up to the government it was taken to a ridiculous extreme?
Could it be that many peoples integrity and common sense has fallen to an all time low, which encourages the government to step in and play Mommy and Daddy, creating insane laws to force the public into doing the basic things they should know as right and wrong just by being human?
These are the types of questions I seem to be asking myself more and more.
Unfortunately the answer always seems to be....I better grab my butt cheeks and hold on tight cause the best is yet to come!

I am not saying that I am perfect but I do take my job as a PROFESSIONAL with the responsibility of maintaining & driving a large vehicle SAFELY on our nations highways SERIOUSLY & the word INTEGRITY is now tops on the list of words that describe how I choose to try and live my life because if my (supposed) ignorance or irresponsibility caused the death of someones kid I would hope the father could have the satisfaction of putting me out of my misery.

Wow. That's quite the rant, but all he asked was if they tested for pain pills, not whether or not drivers were allowed to take them before they got behind the wheel. Although it is not obvious to a urine test, there is a big difference; for instance, marijuana can be detected in the urine for up to three months, about two months, 30 days and 18 hours after its effects have worn off.

Why no one ever wants to give a straight answer to questions about urine testing, I don't know. Since the DOT wrote 500 or so pages about urine politics in their rule book, more than they wrote about driving a truck, I would have to conclude that there is no harm in talking about drug testing. Perhaps people just don't know the answer, so they get emotional and start raving instead.

There are some very interesting DOT rules about urine testing; for instance, did you know that your employer cannot legally compel you to sign a form agreeing to it? Unfortunately, there are also the other 499 or so pages about urine that are very dry reading...no stories, no pictures.

As to the DOT drug test, they are only allowed to test for five basic substances, marijuana, cocaine, opiates, amphetamines, and PCP. You can smoke synthetic marijuana (spice, K2, etc.), drop acid, do ecstacy, take valium or sleeping pills...there are plenty of ways to screw up your mind and body that won't show up on drug tests, if that's what you want to do.

You can also do a certain amount of pain medicine (or any other substance) without having it show up on a urine test. I've done that research, but it's not something that I'm willing to share, because it might encourage someone to take drugs and drive, and that's not what I'm about. Anyone who does these substances before driving has to be a total moron, and should be taken off of the road. Unfortunately urine testing is not the right way to do that, but it gives the government a chance to rob us of our dignity, and that's what they like, so it will probably be around forever, testing for those five drugs.

Ya wonder why 4-wheelers get so pissed because the road is "blocked" and they can't make a move. Sometimes 3 trucks wide and no one wants to let up.They become a pace truck. Hey atleast you won't get a speeding ticket. A tail gating violation maybe but I do hear that drafting a big rig saves on fuel! :violent1:
