So far, all of my time zone issues have worked themselves out. I'm going to chalk up that one instance of failure after the last update to a fluke.
    However, ....
I have been experiencing the processor lag issue lately, which went away after the big maps update, but has returned with a vengeance. My TND runs 30 seconds (1/2 mile) behind my actual location for up to a half hour, then suddenly catches up. Seems to happen mostly around cities.

ive mainly noticed a lag when switching zoom levels. like if i go from street level to auto or auto to anything else it will take like 5 minutes to actually do the zoom. sometimes if i go back in and change the zoom level again it will go right away.

Mark Kling and NFG Thank this.

The other day I was heading to a new location so I thought I would let the Rand McNally TND 700 do it's thing. I punched in the address..... No go, no such address existed. Okay, no big deal I know exactly where this place is located so I just punched in the town (3/4 miles north on the right) and away I went. Out in the middle of nowhere in unfamiliar territory it told me to take a right turn. I had already taken a series of county roads to get where I was at so even my Rand McNally Atlas didn't show my location. The right turn it wanted me to take was down a narrow dirt road, not exactly my first choice. I was tempted to just keep going and let my unit keep recalculating, but where I was there is a lot of dirt roads so it would have probably tried to route me down another one. I was empty and the road wasn't posted so I went ahead and took it. I got to where I was going with no problem but I definitely would not take that road again. With my Garmin Nuvi (non-truck version) I can filter out gravel roads, is there anyway I can do this with the TND 700?

Mark, does the 12 V power cord from the TND 500 fit the TND 700? The reason I ask is the plug that I have in my truck does not stay tight, it's very loose. I thought it was in the USB plug in the unit but one I plug it in to my plug in my car it's just fine, same for when I plug it in the computer. I looked online at Rand McNally's website for new plug in the only one they seem to sell his for the TND 500. If this will work I'll order that one otherwise can you tell me where I can get one for TND 700. Thanks!

    output
    500 - 1amp
    700 - 2 amp

The 500 will power the 700, but not provide enough charge to the 700 to overcome the useage/battery charge for extended periods of time.

Call Rand Support to obtain a DC cord for the 700.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Once again my $450 dollar GPS has failed me. This trip I went from Burlington NC to Iowa city Iowa, after confirming my company routing with was actually
57 miles shorter i took the Mcnally directions and 3x on the trip it lost my location, aparently i was driving in a lake right off a major interstate? when I got close to my stop i pulled up the company local directions and it had me take the first exit and my stop was right down the road, well i followed the mcnally route and it routed 2 exits passed my local, down thru town and around taking me thru narrow streets and tight turns? this has happened numerous times and after calling mcnally tech support i was told that well sorry!!! is your unit set up right, well ya. I was told that the software is not
randmcnally but was purchased from nav-tech and thats how they get there routes. I can say this, im not happy with this unit at all. Way too many issues with routing and it has on a few occasions routed me down a no truck route, does not not warn me of sharp curves, and has taken me under a bridge that is 11'8. I have updated this thing every other day, i have talked with customer service and yet have they given me a reason why. I have a new unit, with new software. Im seriously thinking of changing to another unit. This is susposed to be a truckers unit but theres not even a way to find a blue beacon truck wash? but they sure put a wallmart in there for a quick stop. thats another issue, if i put a quick stop in along my route it will route me out of my route to get there??? odd for the money I payed I would of expected a bit more.

I need to keep better records, but the biggest thing I've seen with the TND is street numbers not matching.

Two bugs that annoy me every week.
    1) The device is convinced that Vincennes, IN is in Central time (it's Eastern)
    2) The ramp in Vincennes from Northbound US 41 to Willow/Decker/IN 441. The device doesn't believe you can turn left (E) from the ramp so it always wants me to run up to the Hart street exit and loop around or to run down the street and turn around.

Right now the unit is flaking out a couple times a day when it is connected to 12v power. The backlight flickers for 10-20 minutes and then the unit goes to a blank screen requiring a reset. removing the unit from 12v power seems to cure the flickering but of course you can only do that for 30 minutes or so. I'm going to try my USB cable with a 12v/USB adapter to see if that solves it (and thus implicates the 12v adapter).

    Mark Kling Thanks this.

Everyone has to remember this GPS along with the rest is Not perfect. With that being said I don't think I could live without my Rand but I have also learned to always get directions to my destination.

    Why cant it be better?
For 500 dollars it leads you down wrong routes
I can get better routing from Google maps
WHY should we expect less from "#1 rated Truckers GPS"
    Okay,
Maybe I am ranting because I have had to send the unit back to Rand for the second time...

My expectations of a #1 unit were not met
