The longest my husband has sat, waiting on a load, has been a couple of hours. Usually he and his FM have him set up for the next load right before the current one comes off.

They've been doing a real good job of keeping us moving on the reefer side - even at the end of 2008 and through 2009. A lot of folks spent days sitting then, and I don't recall that at all. Generally speaking worst case is going empty in the late afternoon and having to sit until the load planners get their ducks lined up the next morning - I call that time for a good nights' sleep! A lot of that just depends on where you are... freight has been very good this year.

I was sitting a bit between Thanksgiving and Christmas, however, my checks were still fine as my dispatcher was making it up to me by giving my brilliantly good paying loads. The past week, both me and my co-driver ran out of hours we ran so much.

You gotta be stayin' away from that buffet!!! :biggrin_2559:

We're lease ops... I haven't heard the company guys complaining about miles lacking yet, even though things usually slow down this time of year.

Running against my 70 the last 2 weeks since I came back out from vacation.

3262 last week, and I estimate a little over 3000 this week.

I swapped loads with a guy trying to get home for Xmas so Im estimating the distance this week on the original load to the swap point.

For the 5 weeks previous my vacation, which started Dec. 7th, I averaged 2558 miles per week. However, I made almost $485 dollars in extra pay, which means I did a couple Hazmats, and a lot of multi stop loads.

I feel as if I did that many miles team 2 or 3 weeks ago. Had a better check than I'll have this week with 6500 miles.

I had a 3900 mile week in there... it came at the expense of the previous weeks 1351 miles.

Gotta love that MN to WA and OR load with 4 stops, the fianl a Tues delivery time of 1200 local and paperwork cutoff deadline of 1600 cntrl.

I was praying theyd have it off in 2 hours... it was wishful thinking.

Hello to All, I have been accepted to Prime's training program. However because I live in Illinois I have to obtain my cdl permit before I arrive at Prime. I also have to take my driving test in Illinois after training(with the use of a prime truck). I have never driven a truck before and I'm feeling a little nervous about doing most of this on my own. Have any of you ever heard of another prime trainee having the same issue? I just got the cdl study booklet Tuesday and haave been reading and studying everyday. I plan to take the exam next week so that I can move forward with training. Any tips or suggestions?

Well I still have to get my cdl permit before I go, I plan on takingthe test no later than Wednesday. So perhaps I will be a week behind you?? I am supoosed to call my recruiter as soon as I pass the test so they can get me out there.
