Willy, I think there is a recruiting email adi that you can try as well, I will say with you living right in Missoula that they just take you anyways. I will honestly say they will tell you straight up if they are interested in you, you will find if you have not already that they don't BS anyone. Good Luck.

heres one, are our apu's hooked to block heaters so we dont have to idle those trucks in the cold? i know a lot of our trucks have block heaters, mine has a plug anyway haha.

im still very unclear if i should be idling or not when its sub zero or single digits. i do just to be safe but i dont know if the apu would be fine. i know apu's can be wired to a block heater i just dont know if ours are.

    Most are.

Easy way to check is to see if there are hoses running from the unit toward the front and back.

all my junk goes up into the passenger bin where all the apu stuff is. to run a block heater it would just be wires i imagine.

besides that i wonder with fuel gelling, again whens a good time to call it and idle? i know it depends on a lot of things but just in general. like the other night the low was -17 and thats pretty nuts and last night was -5. tonights only 9 and i do use the additive and i fueled in MN so i think im alright for now. what im really wondering what the extreme is where everyone will just idle to be safe? below zero? i still remember being told 15 in training but im not even sure if they took having an apu into account. i could just call them, but i dont like to bug anyone unless i actually need help with something.

I was told in training (even wrote it down!) 10 degrees or lower run in high idle, 1000 rpm. #2 gels at -4 to -5 degrees, I idle anyway (500-700 rpm) for cab and sleeper heat.

    hahahaha wow.

i cant complain too much but i do remember before i got my apu going there were some pretty cold nights, mostly my fault for never having enough blankets. i usually have beer loads from home where im up in wy and mt where its really cold so i idle anyway, thats why i was a little confused now being in all these sub zeros.

but i think tonight at 9 ill be ok. and i dont even know how to get high idle on a volvo. i tried it once and cruise didnt seem to do anything. but im slow to learn with this truck, took 3 weeks to figure out i had an air horn and i didnt even know how to lock the doors from inside until like 3 weeks ago lmao. it just came to me one day when i was bored driving. crazy volvos...
