Will be starting Deboer on Jan. 10 in Blenker, WI.
I am very excited about driving OTR. Hope it all works out for me. I talked to my recruiter today and received my bus confirmation and hotel reservation. I was told orientation would be 2 maybe 3 days long. I am now trying to make sure I pack everything that will be needed during the training period. I hope other Deboer drivers will see this thread and give me any feedback or suggestions on what to expect and what to bring. I would like to know what the average weekly pay is and what the equipment is like. Thanks let me know please...

Attitude has a lot to do with it friend, and you HAVE to start somewhere, hold your head up,and do not let anything get to you for at least one year.It is a learning experience all the way through your career friend, and please, dont FORGET that. Its not easy today, and it wont be tomorrow, but there ARE better days ahead.

Thanks everyone..I will keep this updated as much as possible. I have heard they have really bad equipment. I also heard they were a OK company to start with. I am not expecting to get a 2011 brand new truck just starting out. I just want to be SAFE and able to make and save a little money while getting experience. I will arrive in Wisconsin on sunday evening via Greyhound. I was told I would be staying at a hotel for the night and going to the terminal monday morning (1/10) to start orientation which is 2 maybe 3 days long. I was told then i would have to wait on my trainer which should be there no later than that following monday (1/17). I hope he will be there sooner because i dont like the idea of sitting at the terminal for days...but if not oh well I guess thats the life of a Trucker lol... As everyone can see I am very excited about this journey and hope it turns out great. I would like to thank everyone again for the feedback and I will keep you posted

Mr2nite,
You will here a lot of good and bad things about everything under the sun. I would bet there are folks that complain about being sent to heaven. It is life.
One has a not so great experience with something and the chances are they will talk negative about it. Then there is the other way around.
Just be respectful and do the best safest job you can, it cannot get no better than that my friend.
You will be fine, just use common sense and do not get in a hurry.
Be Safe and Drive easy,

Well..i arrived in Tomah,WI last night and stayed in a hotel there until 12pm today when a cab brought me to the terminal in Blenker, WI. I will be staying in their "bunk house" on the terminal during orientation. I will begin orientation tomorrow at 8:30am. So far its ok. I have to get used to being in the middle of nowhere. They have a company van I can use if I need to go to a store or restaurant. I see its going to be a while before I get used to this lifestyle. I will post more info tomorrow after orientation. Feel free to ask me any questions. Thanks for everyone support.
