As I was coming out of the Central Point, OR Pilot...with dinner in bag and hand....I came out the door and here stands 3 drivers...laughing and carrying on. 2 of them are "experienced" and one is a rookie....the 2 were telling the rookie to "get about halfway down the hill, then throw it in Neutral and the speed sensor won't register your over speed and over RPM's...then you can save a few minutes getting to Sacramento."

They were "telling" this younger driver how to shave some minutes off the time it takes to run the I-5 from Central Point to Sacramento and not get caught. What company I can't say for sure...but I know it wasn't Swift! Just how many stupid statements to rookies have led to big problems in that rookies future?

It just set me off....wisely I didn't get involved in the "conversation" as I know where it would have led!

Anyone else "overhear" something really stupid passed on to a newbie?

Just what they said in truck driving school that being a truck driver is a profitable industry where 40k in the 1t year is achievable:biggrin_25523:

The old Georgia Over Drive ploy huh. Well, thats kind of a crappy thing to tell a new guy. Hopefully he was smert enough to know they were just messing with him. Hopefully none of my family will be on that road if and when he decides to try...

I wonder how many drivers have called the U.S. Marshalls when they had trouble at a scale?

If you do ten stupid things a trip... you can save a whole minute.

Fifty stupid things and you can save two minutes.

Sounds like a couple dumb drivers trying to be intelligent. :)

I drove a truck that actually HAD an emergency button tied into the qualcomm. It was for when we hauled sensitive military loads. I never got to test it before the company was shut down by the MTO.
