    · How long is the on-the-road training period? traning period is 10,000 miles

    · What does MCT offer co. drivers in terms of benefits and vacation? med, dent, vision/1 wk vac

    · Are drivers paid for unloaded miles? yes

    · Are drivers paid for layover? yes

    · What items are drivers responsible for purchasing? CB, fridge, microwave, map, etc

    · Are the trucks equipped with speed limiters, and if so, what speed are they set to? 63 MPH

    · What kind of wage can a 1st year employee expect? What are the pay escalation scales? 40k first year. raises annually after that

    I would be interested in earning extra income by loading and unloading trailers whenever I can. I don’t know a lot about how this process works but I am assuming that it involves pallets and a forklift, is that correct? if yes, then does WSE/MCT also offer the training that I would need to operate this equipment?

    our drivers do not typically unload freight. most receivers unload their own freight so that it is handled by their trained employees. there is to much liability associated with drivers unloading freight. there certainly are the occasional exceptions, but they are far and few between.

    Just so I’m clear, if I apply for the CDL training, complete it, complete the 10,000 miles w/ a trainer, am I 100% guaranteed to then be hired full-time with the company as a OTR driver?

    yes Sir. as long as you pass your post-training road test. i have been here for the past 5+ years and have never had anyone fail one, so it's pretty much automatic.

    Is training pay still $350/week? What is WSE’s training tuition reimbursement scheme? Does financing depend on credit history? we do not have a school any longer (we only take recent grads from schools)



    Does WSE run its own training school or does it send students somewhere else for training? I have heard that WSE’s school has been on and off recently. we can send you to South Dakota / costs you 1K



    Training trucks – single bunk or double bunk? double



    Is co. driver- pay for Practical miles or shortest miles, or some other method? What is the current rate for someone just staring out solo? household mover goods (equivelent to practicle)



    I am at the fringe of WSE’s hiring area here in st. paul. Can you tell me a step-by step process how someone in my area would go about returning home (where to park the truck, how drivers transport themselves from the parking lot). you will need to find a secure location in your area to park the equipment, and it would be your responsibility to get back and forth

    I think the only thing I would question is the 40k for the 1st year......everything else seemed pretty straight forward and kosher.....the school thing was a little off though...not quite sure I understood that one...they send you to a school in the Dakota's that costs you a grand.....that's pretty cheap and how long in the school.

    I can go to school in SD as a pre-hire with WSE and tuition at that school is $1000, which WSE does not reimburse, correct? what school is that? tuition is covered by us, but your room and board at the hotel for 3 weeks will cost you about 1k and it is non-refundable. you will be requirred to sign a promissory note that requires you to work for WSE for one full year

    Also, what is WSE'S CPM rate for new 1st year hires under the HMG mileage scale? your starting pay will be $0.30 cpm for the first 12 months

    ok so they will send you to a school pay your tuition but you pay for your room and board......ok not bad, but then you would have to stay with them for a year...also not too bad as long as you like the company and they run you well.

    30 cpm isn't bad for a starting wage alot of companies start new guys off lower than that.....HMG mileage is actually 5-10% less than what you will actually drive and that is kind of standard in the industry also......but hey you gotta get a start somewhere......I really don't know much about willie shaw so I can't help you out on what they are like....good luck to you.......and at least it seemed like the recruiter didn't try to lead you on too much......but I wouldn't expect 40k in the first year....MAYBE 30k if you run your axle off and they keep you moving all the time

    10,000 miles for training

    this is low esp. compared to PRIME which requires 60,000 miles.

    is this enough training miles?

    10k miles is a solid month...my guess is you will be out for 6 weeks. I honestly WOULD NOT go to Prime and do 60k....are you kidding me that is ridiculous....how the hell do make any money on a trainers truck for that long...there is a reason they jokingly call Prime " please remember I mortgaged everything". Trust me by the time your 4-6 weeks is over you will be more than ready to get your own ride for privacy sake and hopefully you will have a good trainer so you will be ready for the driving.

    My guess is he will have to long 10k miles not a team thing...that was how Werner was when I started with them except I had to get 14k

    yea i have heard good things about prime but i have ditched roommates in less than 4 months, much less bunk mates. OTOH i want to be prepared so i don't **** up right away and throw my career down the toilet.

    Alot of that depends on you......if you have the natural ability it won't be an issue.....the other thing is common sense if you use it you'll be fine. Asking questions of your trainer and understanding your truck is important too.....some trucks handle easier than others...take it slow and easy especially when backing and don't be afraid to get out and look or ask someone to spot you.....try not to blind side back little things like that but you'll learn them IF you have a good trainer. And if something isn't clicking then ask your trainer tell him what your not getting if he's a good trainer he should be able to help you.

    believe me when I say this nobody wants to mess it up and for the first year or two you'll still get nervous when you hit a PITA dock but you'll get used to it and hopefully learn from them
