An explanation is in order.
The 7700 actually contains 2 POI databases. It has our "normal" database, plus a special Promiles / Truckdown database.
The premium database from ProMiles / Truckdown contains much higher quality data for use specifically by truckers. Truck stops in this premium data have been verified as suitable for trucks, and the GPS coordinates of these truck stops is right at the pumps, for higher accuracy.
Travel centers in the main database [...Auto/Truck | Travel Centers] include businesses that claim to be travel centers but may not always be suitable for large trucks. Some of these travel centers may be hard to get to by large trucks, and facilities may be very limited.
The two databases are provided separately because we want to give truckers the option of searching premium-only data or searching our larger, main database, which contains many more points. Normally, truckers will want to use the premium database as their primary tool, but can use the main database as a backup when searches from the premium database do not yield sufficient results.
We recommend first trying the Promiles database. When searching POI, tap on Promiles and then choose the appropriate category. If you are not happy with the search results, then back up and try searching the main database.
I know it may sound like a hassle, but really it's not. It gives you more choices. You get a special database of high-quality trucker-specific data, plus another huge database available which contains general POIs. As I previously said, we always recommend trying the Promiles database first.

You explanation doesn't explain why a single franchise location isn't found under the brand's listing in the Auto/Truck | Travel Centers | Flying J, but is found separately and exclusively under the Promiles listing. You're telling me (and others who use this forum) that I have to look in 2 separate listings to ensure I've found all the Flying J's, TA's, Pilots, etc? Why can't you put all the national travel center locations under their respective name, regardless of whether they also appear in the Promiles listing?
When I look up a specific franchise name in search of a nearby location, I don't expect to have to look in 2 separate listings to ensure I have identified them all. For example, I expect to find all Flying J's when I search under the Flying J listing.
Others watching this thread, am I making sense? Time to chime in, here.
In my experience, your Promiles database is mostly a bunch of tiny Mom and Pops with pumps that are difficult to get to and usually have no overnight parking available, exactly the opposite of what you describe.
In contrast, the national travel centers have a uniform design and access, all have overnight parking, and most have national fuel purchase contracts with major freight carriers whose drivers are required to purchase there. So, when a driver needs fuel or services, (s)he looks for nearby locations with that brand name.
If a truckstop wants to pay Cobra for a special listing in your Promiles category, that's fine with me. But for your product to be useful and a reliable tool, every national franchise location needs to also be listed under their specific name in auto/truck | Travel Centers. -
It turns out that Saratoga is not an official truck route in the city of Bismark. Most likely neither are the other nearby streets. Therefore this local regulation applies:
Any vehicle with an actual or registered gross vehicle weight of 10,000 lbs or more must use truck routes as provided in the city ordinance. NON-TRUCK ROUTE STREETS: Trucks may travel off of the truck routes only to reach or leave a destination with the shortest possible distance of travel on non-truck route streets.
Bottom-line: The 7700 is valid for giving a weight warning. This type of restriction is called a "soft-restriction", meaning that it is OK to use the street to make local pickups/deliveries. The 7700 does run a route to the destination, but then correctly shows the weight warning when you get near.

The unit will tell you the truck stop is on the right, It is really on the left.
WITH THE MERGER OF PILOT AND FLYING J THINGS QUICKLY CHANGED!
Many Pilots are now Love's, My company gives me a specific number fuel stop. I have to fuel there. I haven't had a problem with it yet. There may be a Pilot listed as a TS in the data base. It may be a Love's now. Specifically the former Pilot in Biloxi MS. It is now a Love's.
I put in for Walmarts along my route going from Montgomery AL to Birmingham. I picked one in Pelham. Guess what? It didn't exist! My 14 was running out. I did see one from the interstate before getting off to find the non existing one. I navigated around until I thought I could guesstimate where it was. I found it. The street running parallel to I-65 didn't exist on the screen. The unit thought I was on 65 when I was leaving there in the morning.
Cobra is getting hosed by their information supplier!
I always have serious issues in Baltimore MD. Every side street there has a 3/4 ton limit on it.
BTW one of the major cities in NC the exit numbers are wrong on the unit.
Also going on I-670 around Columbus OH some parts it lists the road as "607!" Not in the audio just in the visual.
Houston...........I don't know of any GPS that works right there. The service roads next to the interstates confuse all the units. -
Best use:
- Use the Promiles database for anything specific to trucking
- Use the secondary database for non-trucking destinations (maybe you are looking for a Wal-Mart, etc.)

I checked a later version of the POI database and only the super center is listed. This should be visible in the next mapping database that we release (within a month or two). The map update also includes a POI update.

I have not seen this posted. The suction cup on my 7700 really stinks in cold weather. I have tried cleaning both the window and the cup, but no luck. Any ideas would be great. TIA
