Well my student, "Captain Kirk", will be done with his 240 hrs in a week. Starting to ask if i'm 'special' as far as mentor's goes, because someone informed him that mentor's are not allowed pets. Seems to get along with my dog pretty good. I pay him $2 everytime he takes her out to go pee and poop (just kidding.....i pay him a dollar) :biggrin_25523:

But thinkin' if he might want to rat me out for having a pet, i'll just have to pull some strings back in Edwardsville.....or if worse comes to worse, kick him off. :biggrin_25524:

DONT MESS WITH THE DICK !!!! (jones)

    I have to ask Dick.....

Were you rolling west on I-20/I-59 this evening in Alabama? West of Tuscallosa?

If it wasn't you.... Then I need to find that L/O who was driving that burgundy colored T-660 so I can apoligize for flipping him off.

If it was you.... Then I retract the above statement. I meant to flip you off & will do it again next time.

Said I'd never team and here I am officially teamed up with my mentor. I have the owner operator red comdata card, a owner operator code and a heck of a lot more freedom to do stuff with the truck. I'm sitting in Lathrop til tomorrow afternoon. Partner already left for Bakersfield to see his fiance. Tomorrow I will jam down to Fresno to pick up the load then overnight in Bakersfield where he will jump on the truck the following morning and we will take the load somewhere down Louisiana way.

I had forgotten how much I hated these Kenworths! Can't sit on the bottom bunk without bumping my head against top bunk. Can't sit up at all on the top bunk because it's a flattop. The dash 12 volt ciggie plugs only work when the key is ON not ACC. That blows because I like to listen to the radio all night when I sleep. So I have the satellite pluggie stretched all the way back to one of the ciggie plugs in the sleeper but that won't fly with my partner when we're teaming so this will probably be my last sleep with my music (he listens to those moronic sports talk shows where Billy Ray Bob Joe calls in to offer his beer soaked expert opinion on the NFL draft and Nastcar.

That's not the case at all. I was actually rolling east & was jabbering away on the phone. Just happened to look over the west bound side & saw that burgundy T-660 hooked to a Swift trailer as we were passing.... It was everything I could do to hold onto the wheel, phone, & flip off the truck in the matter of that second!

Dick is a champ. Most others in his situation started whining day 1, and rolled over within a week. Whatever the Swift deal is, he's out there doing it.

And his threads are hugely entertaining.

In my youth, I was a carney, and Dick Jones was my trucking partner. He was a big chubby boy whose nickname was "Bimbo". He drove the truck; I was his schlepper. When we stopped for gas (no diesel trucks), I was in charge of the walk-around inspection and fetching the cokes; he paid. For yucks, when we were in the construction zones, he'd run over the cones; when one got caught between the tandems, it was hugely funny!

Ah, the memories. I could only wish that I could get away with what we did in those days.

    Go get 'em Dick! :biggrin_25514:

could have been the guy i happen to have run into at Phoenix. He leased the burgundy T660 that was sitting in Edwardsville few weeks ago.

HAHAH....hold the wheel, AND phone, hand crank your junk truck window down, and flip the truck off. LOL.....classic. Tell me, how were you able to crank back the window, and then tear strips of duck tape to apply to said window to keep it up? Man, you are multi-tallented. I'm impressed. =)

What time? At approximately 3pm (Alabama time) I was rolling East with my load on the East side of B-ham.
