Sorry, no can do. The sugar content is not high enough--it would void their contract with the insulin manufacturers.

As a truck stop housekeeper, got a compliment from a trucker saying the shower stall was the cleanest she's been in. This, after smelling like pee all day because a pop bottle filled with urine was tossed into the garbage can. What a fresh breath of air to hear that!:biggrin_25519:

It's been awhile since I posted here. Pretty much had nothing to say all this time. Well the time has come to chime in.
First of all, let me say I am so sorry, to all you drivers.
When they first announced the merger between Flying J and Pilot, there was so much negative feedback from you all and many predictions. Well I am here to tell you, you guys were absolutly right. I have live through all the changes and the remodeling and numerous re-sets of the merchandise (one is in progress right now) I used to knowm where everything was kept, Now I don't know where a ###### thing is anymore.
We have had our working lives turned upside down. Everyone from the GM down is stressing like crazy. They are cutting our hours constantly, which means we have to do more with fewer employees. It's getting so no one likes to come to work anymore. When we get there we get constant admonitions from the superiors, because they are stressed, and then we have to deal with angry stressed out customers, because they are unhappy because of all the changes. Let me tell you it's no picnic being on the other side of the counter. I completely understand the anger over all the changes put on you guys, but please, don't take it out on the cashiers, we have no control over the corporate policies. The best thing you can do is email Pilot.com or call them with your concern. We have no say and they don't want to hear from us. We are not supposed to have long lines and are expected to call for help. We really are trying to get through the lines as fast as we can. PLease, can you help us out by having your stuff together, when you get to the counter. Please know what pump who are on. Tell us if you need to fuel, already fueled and want a receipt or fueled and need to pay or are getting a cash advance.
These things are essential for us to know to help you without playing 30 question first. I realize it's more difficult for immigrants, who have english as a secong language, but guess what, so am I. Anyone who has ever been to the Caldwell PFJ has probably met me, the German girl. Another thing to expedite transactions is please by all means utilize the Driver services kiosk. It's real easy and we would be happy to show you how it works to get you started. And if you plan all your shopping, it will not be necessary to be in line 5 time in a row. Sometimes it feel like you guys are creating your own lines by coming back for this and that and whatnot. I do get the need to just chat with someone and if it slow, that not a problem. When we are busy, we will get in trouble with the boss. If you ever feel like getting the rush it's not you, it's the fact, that we don't want to get our ###es chewed for spending too much time with one customer. If you think I am kidding, I am not. Those dents on my behind are not dimples, they are chew marks (lol) Anyway I just felt the need to put in my 2 cents. Please be patient and don't let your frustration spill over unto the cashier, we have enough of our own.
And for all you guys, who said Pilot will ruin the Flying J, I think you may have been right. I used to love working there and now I dread it and so do a lot of the other cashier and everyone else for that matter. But let me finish by saying this : I love our drivers :biggrin_25520: You guys are awesome ( with are couple of exeptions who shall remain nameless) and you ae the reason I am still there.

    Hey PatientOne,

Eating on the road is bad enough, but taking away one of the only semi-healthy choices is just mean.

Do you know why did Flying J stopped carrying salads after the merger?

Appreciate your work and kind words...

Doing more with less people is something Pilot is known for!
I'm glad PFJ now has self-serve TransFlo kiosks. One less thing for you guys to do and one less reason for long lines. :)

The Flying J's that I am familiar with went to Denny's and it was Denny's decision to remove the buffets (including the salad section). Many people said they hated with buffets but with some few exceptions, I loved the buffets. No fooling.

You can still get a salad but it will be a side salad with what Denny's will put in there not what you want in the salad which was possible when the buffets were up and running.

Sorry to hear about your frustrations and you getting hassled by the corporate end of the Flying Peelot.

I think that some drivers and four wheelers have "consideration awareness" that stops at the end of their nose and don't realize that the cashier, etc. has their own individual problems and issues that aren't being helped by their bosses.

These drivers and others don't need to "throw gasoline on the fire". A cranky driver (or four wheeler) and a cranky cashier is an accident waiting to happen.

Thanks for your suggestions on how to make things more efficient in the truck stop.

Hi PatientOne. That's a good name because I don't know how you do it. From the whiners to the fat slob leaning on the counter sweet talking you, I believe I would crack eventially.`We all know the Pilot way. There is no sense emailing them because they don't listen to us either. But we're glad you're there. You are appreciated.

They still have to do the TriP Pak scanning which I hate. One driver will go to one clerk and the next scanning driver will go to the second clerk. Then you have two clerks at the scanning machine. Driver 2 isn't smart enough to know he has to wait regardless. So he'll tie the line up. I wish they would restrict scanning to one register.
