why do people post on here what they don't know? You can carry in your truck in alot of states legally as long as the gun and ammo are in seperate locked boxes, and you can do so in california, and you don't need a permit. But...where you can get in trouble is in some of the north eastern states, as well as indiana. I don't carry because I have to go into some of these states, and my company forbids firearms in the truck. I will say that I wish I could carry because of some of the scarry places I have to park at sometimes. The dude that said it's a felony to carry in a cmv don't have a clue, probally heard it from the school instructer.
If you are running up in some of the anti gun states, the dot can search your truck. They are supposed to have reasonable suspicion that you have something illegal in the truck, but if they really wan't to search it they will. Also you can be searched at ports, military bases, and some shippers/receivers. Of course, don't even think of going into New York city w
ith a gun or you may do some serious jail time. Also, hunting knives with a big ##### blade are a no no in alot of states.

Yeh, I know, If you have a concealed weapons permit you would be able to carry in alot of states without putting it in a locked box.

Bring any hand gun into cali, keep it locked up, then at nite before you go to bed take it out. Just don't keep a clip with more then 9 rounds in it. Remember, only halif the population in cali is liberal, the other halif are hard working proud americans just like you. Note- all the liberals live on the coast. You are safe everywhere else!

The only "heat" I'll be packing OTR is if I ever have my female chihuahua with me during her seasons.

You might have a problem if you shoot somebody thats coming into your truck, but at least you would live to tell the story to your cellmate. :biggrin_255:

If you do decide to carry a gun on the truck make sure you have a gun concealed carry permit and that will make you legal in alot of states that have reciprocity with your states concealed carry permit.

I have a friend who has an Indiana concealed carry permit and he carries two guns on the truck with him. The company he works for does not go to Canada and his Indiana permit makes him legal in alot of the states. He carries a small .380 in his pocket all the time and a larger .45 on him when he is in states with reciprocity with his permit. When he is in a state that does not have reciprocity he has a small safe bolted to the floor that he keeps open and if he gets pulled over he closes the safe with his guns inside.

Before people post that it is not legal to carry in a commercial vehicle please find that law somewhere to prove it. You won't because there is no such law. That is just a myth that trucking companies have always put out there because they don't want the liability if one of their drivers shoots somebody. Carrying a gun in a commercial vehicle is no different legally than carrying in a personal vehicle.

God given right? Now that is funny. I'm sure when Adam and Eve were put on earth that god gave them a .357 magnum to defend themselves.

If you get caught with a handgun, it wont matter much if you have a large capacity magazine in CA. Either way, you are going to jail if you get caught.

There is NO CCW reciprocity here in CA as we are a might (probably not) issue state, so leave your out-of-state CCW in your pocket cause it wont make any difference here.

If you are going to pack a handgun regardless, it won't matter if you have 1 bullet or 20 you will still be in the back of a squad car if you are an out-of stater who doesn't know much about Calif. gun laws and how strictly they are enforced. Most cops here HATE people with guns, CCW or not. This ain't Tennessee or Kentucky or wherever you have cops who see carry permits all the time.

You WILL be charged and you WILL be convicted and sent to prison or perhaps jail for at least 6 months on a felony charge.

If its that important that you have a gun handy in your rig, then dont come here at all is my advice. Once again, I am not anti-gun at all, but I was born here, and you probably were not. This is NOT a gun-friendly state

Yeah, I laugh all the time when I read that crap.

Like anyone on a jury will even care, not to mention the judge or the cops, when he gets cuffed and stuffed into a police cruiser.

BTW, when did God take the RKBA away from felons, I wonder? :biggrin_25526:

the god given right is laughable at best, My right to protect myself is not given my God,Government or any figure of authority. I make the choice of how i wish to defend myself and my property and will deal with any repercussions that come of it. I rather defend myself and have the possibility of being alive then being another statistic.
