This article from The Unioun County Times dated Feb. 16,2006 says lawsuit was filled only to find out how and why the accident occoured.
https://www.myfloridacounty.com/offi...rds/index.html
This link shows that there have been 12 lawsuits filed against Crete in Union County since the accident. However, without ordering a copy of every lawsuit it cannot be determined what the status of those suits are.mje Thanks this. -
Crete clearly has gotting all this hushed up as part of its dealings - as a former private investigator I'd advise you to not rely on a sole source of information and make a declarative statement such as "no lawsuits have been filed"mje Thanks this. -
mje and airforcetoo Thank this.

to help settle this argument about the lawsuits, all have been settled.
http://jacksonville.com/news/metro/2009-10-23/story/last_lawsuits_settle_in_union_county_truck_crash
October 23 2009 the last of the lawsuits were settled, and terms were not disclosed.
Nothing to worry about, unless one wants too. -
why is everybody concerned about an accident that happend many years ago. you should be concerned about how they treat drivers now. and it is not good.

No one company is good for all. Many drivers swear by Crete. I went to there orientation in Jan 4th 2011. Was told by my recruiter and it is on thier own website, 1 to 2 yrs experience is .39 a mile. The last day of orientation I was given a paper that said I was going to make .35 a mile. I asked why and was told I live south of Atlanta, Valdosta to be exact. I said that the recruiter nor the wesite said anything about "south of Atlanta" but .35 was all the would pay. I was done with orientation so I stayed at that point. I was issued a truck with opti idle. The starting up all night it would do fine but most every time it restarted the heat failed to come back on and I was in Ohio, nearly froze to death. I also had an airbag on the tractor bust on Sunday Jan 15 at 12 noon just after I delivered. I was in Columbus Oh near the terminal so I shot over to get both problems fixed. I got fixed Tuesday night at 11 pm. Had to stay in the truck the whole time. I done as told sent message after message to terminal manager and even called on phone, secretary said she would give him my message and he would call back. I still havent heard from him as of today. I finally got a load that went by the Tifton Ga terminal and thats where I parked the truck. Grand total for 3 weeks was 2100 miles. I have never sat so much in my life and if I am going to sit my recliner is more comfortable. I retired from the state so I have a few $$ stashed away so I can afford to look around. There was a few other things that went wrong during my short time with Crete but the point here is I think Crete sucks bad......

We all know Crete has been involved in accidents, as have every company out there. You can't have 5-6000 trucks on the road and not have some. I don't think you can say a company could be in financial danger because of this. They still pay their drivers considerably more than other companies and continue to upgrade their equipment on a regular schedule.
While no company is perfect for all, Crete has treated me well.
I think this debate over lawsuits has just gotten out of hand. We all know of the infamous Florida case. It was very unfortunate, but if my recollection is correct, I don't think the driver had violated any regulations. He was feeling pressure to continue and may have had the accident not occured.
But the facts are it was an ACCIDENT, they happen, every hour, of every day, of every year, at every company, so let's just discuss something more relevant. If I wanted to hear a lot of unproductive bickering, I would go hang out in the driver's lounge in the nearest truck stop.mje and airforcetoo Thank this.
