#1: A matter of perspective. Perhaps you won't get thrown from a vehicle while wearing one, but you may very well be trapped if vehicle is on fire, upside down in water, etc...
#2: I agree it's not the best in the world for you, but neither is today's air that we breathe. Both of my grandpa's lived well into their nineties and smoked for most of their lives. If a person is predisposed to problems..then smoking is most definitely hazardous to the health.
#3: Again this answer is a matter of perspective. It depends on which "side of the fence" you are on.
....so...neither are yes or no answers in my opinion.
Why do they ask you if you smoke?

Do you have any idea how much crap comes off of a carpet? Or rug? Or the plastic that covers the mattress the baby sleeps on? Or any blanket or comforter that we all sleep with, I'd be more inclined to believe the products' origination 'China' (no or little QC) has more to do with it than anything else. Be careful eating on that dinner plate that came from China, they use lead in their paint, but you knew that didn't you? What about the plastic drinking cup your baby uses? Or the baby tote that your baby uses in your picture? Is it made in America, where we do have quality control? If it says 'made in China', you have no idea exactly what's in that plastic used to make that. Look at what they put in animal food, and how many pets died as a result of their "shortcut". Do you really think they care about your child in China? You know, the country where life has no value?
There are plenty of things in the home that contribute to environmental irritants. Why do we have more people being susceptible to allergens? You've already stated there's less smokers, so you can't blame it on them.
I think it'd be a novelty if people would apply some common sense when reading materials with an agenda. Of course the anti-smoking nazis will buy it every time. They are addicted to it. They eat it up and poop it out trying to infect others with it, all the while with no concrete facts to back it up with.scottied67, Irondog, inkeper and 1 other person Thank this. -
Injun Thanks this.

I totally agree, it's a Fear And Consumption Agenda. If they can't sell you something because you need it, they will scare you into buying it. Everyone is out to get your money one way or another.
- Lock in that interest rate today before it goes up tomorrow
- Sign this adjustable rate mortgage today before the value resets tomorrow
- Bail this bank out today or the country will fail tomorrow
- Buy this new style crib because the old drop side cribs are dangerous
- Buy these mesh bumpers for the crib because the old crib bumpers are a SIDS danger
- Buy these new BPA free baby bottles because the old bottles are made in China
In short my post was meant to be sanctimonious and uptight/ tongue in cheek, clever whatnot, I sincerely apologize if it was offensive.Injun Thanks this. -
Can't even discuss smoking without the smoking nazi's stepping in.scottied67, inkeper and Injun Thank this. -
Most people are terrible at assessing the risk of certain activities. We can either rely on scientific evidence or just our own experiences to decide what we will do.
For example: will you run a red light? I would always answer no to that question. Others might say, well, if it is in the middle of the day, and there no cars around that I can see, yes....I am in a big hurry, so they run the red light. So, they do this again 9 more times. Now they can say, I run red lights all the time, but I have never had an accident doing so. So does that mean that you and I can run a red light and not have an accident? Does that mean everyone in the city can run a red light and not have an accident? My personal experience is that I can run red lights and not have an accident, and until I do have an accident, I will continue to believe that I can run red lights without having an accident. And then one day I run a red light in front of a semi and I am killed by the accident. By the way, I did have my seatbelt on , but I was killed anyway...and I was smoking at the time, but the cigarettes did not kill me, it was the semi that killed me, or rather me running the red light that killed me. I was relying on my personal experience, and it killed me.
Let me redo the questions, and they are:
1. Do seat belts kill people?
If yes, how many people have been killed by seat belts? And how many people have been saved by seat belts?
2. Is smoking cigarettes healthy for you?

Guilty as charged. The sentence is to blow smoke in his face for 5 minutes every hour for 24 hours.scottied67 Thanks this. -
No I do not smell!
I have worked with folks and people have come to my home and did not know I smoked cigarettes. He probably smoked in his house and his car with the windows rolled up. I am with injun! Outa here!
scottied67 and Lilbit Thank this. -
A matter of perspective...and I did notice the bold type at the end of your post. LOLLilbit Thanks this.
