Klingon, I'm not sure who you talked to in OS&D but I think they are just trying to scare you so you will be more careful next time.
As per orientation, "If the reciever refuses to sign for the seal, write "refused to sign" on the BOL.
Having said that. . . I have NEVER, and I mean NEVER been charged for a shortage. I think if you ask around, each driver will tell you the same thing.

Panhandle Flash, I love going to that Sara Lee. There is a small cafe along the way that is family owned. The owner is the principal at the local high school and it is very much a midwestern friendly cafe. Lots of good memories as I stopped there each time I loaded at Sara Lee.

Think I just ate at that cafe. Within walking distance? Dang, forget the name but family owned since 1969, I remember. They have a wonderful grocery store here in town also. Nice deli, still have their own butchers...... I love towns like this!!!!!!

Gotta love the Swifties! Not because they take all the supertrucker's heat off of you but because they provide pure entertainment! Today I was eating lunch at hooter's in Waco when a Swiftie drove up and parked on the lane frontage road and came in to order his food togo. I told him that Waco PD will come by and give him a parking ticket and he should just go park at the flying j around the corner. He told me that it will be alright... Fine have a nice day driver! 10 minutes later I say, "hey swift" then he answers, "what??" like i was annoying him or something. "turn around" so he turns around and low and behold Waco PD was there giving him a parking ticket. So he runs out there to talk to the officer. The bartender asked where he went. I said "to go park his truck at the flying J, He'll be back." So i finish and walk back to the Flying j and i see him parked and getting a ticket AND probably level 3'd. They were there for another 10 minutes after i got there.
Now if he just would have stayed inside Hooter's and take the parking ticket, the officer would have left the ticket and left. And if the officer came inside to find the driver, he didnt have to acknowledge that he is the driver. But he went out moved his truck, got a ticket AND inspected. LOL -
BTW, my company has just moved me into a purple truck, so be warned. If you see a purple TA trk coming down the road, and hear on the CB, somebody singing "one eyed, one horned, flying purple people eater", say hello cause it will be me!!!!
