Swift makes the hiring decisions it does, and it should face the consequences for those decisions. They hire guys on knowing full well those guys will never reach the 90K level. Those guys won't reach that plateau because they won't be staying around too long. Yeap, Swift knows this, but they hire them on anyway.

Swift should be honest and up front when they hire on guys. They could simply tell them something like "We at Swift care nothing for the driver. If you hire on here, expect all kinds of BS, such as being shorted on miles, not being reimbursed for expenses such as loading fees and lumpers, and being victimized by vindictive dispatchers and DMs." I'd have a little more respect for Swift if they did this. Of course, I'd still never drive for them. I'll be driving for Swift again only if it's the day after doomsday--that's it. Maybe I'll see you out there the day after the end of the world comes. Look for me, as I'll be driving a Swift truck.

I worked for Swift in 2006. I was out of the Menasha Wisconsin terminal and they treated me with respect. When I got very sick, they understood and let me take the time off (about a year) to get better and they re-hired me this month (June 2007). They never screwed me on anything and being a non-smoker they went out of their way to get me in with a trainer that did not smoke.

They also gave me thier dispatcher's home and cell numbers to be reached with any problem and that included my Wife and if there was a problem at home got me home. I like the Driver's comfort zones and I runn the mid-west.

Any huge trcuking company will have its problems and I think Swift is addressing them as they can. If you drive smart and watch you butt you will have no problems with Swift. It is all the "Super Truckers" that cause problems and makes it hard for Rookies i nthe future. I still take along time to back and I hear the b.s. while doing it but I have seen drivers from other companies drive just as bad or worse as a Swift Driver.

correct me if i am wrong Tip but you worked for them 1995 if I do believe.
and its hmmmm lets see 2007? 12 years give or take a couple months depends when you left. And you honestly think its the same company in 12 years and nothing has changed? What I think is so funny is that all the I got screwed by Swift post and people take all the post at face value. Now I am not saying that all of them are embellished or half truths. Some most likely got hosed big time. it happens no matter what job you have good people get F@#$ Its also funny to see that people bad mouth a company and say its the devil . and they worked for them 10 to 15 years ago. is swift the devil nope is swift the best nope. Swift is like wal-mart some people just love to hate it and they never worked there in there lives

I heard about them, and People say they are a bad company. I think they are worst them bad. One year I been with them. Not a good company. When I started there was a $1,000 sign up fee. That should have told me something right there. To everyone don't sign up with Swift Trucking Inc.

Yup, thats truck drivin'! Swift ain't too swift in my book and I never worked for them. Just know some who did, including an old Army Buddy that retired and gave it a whirl. Just did not work out for him and left him with such a bad taste trucking, he up and quit.

There are several companies I would never recommend to anyone. Swift tops the list with England right behind, then May and down hill from there.

Yes, I got a good taste of the politics at Starvin Marin's when I worked out of the Nampa, Idaho terminal. (Closed 2 years after I started) I was with them for 18 months. Great experience, but so was Nam! Would not want to do it again.

When I first went out, I was right out of three years in College and had not worked to produce any income in a while, so I said, okay, lets just see how long it takes them to get me home.

I was picked up by a driver trainer on the 27th of December; went solo when someone dumped a truck at a truck stop, then reminded them every week or two it was time to go home.

On the 5th of June, I pulled into the yard at Nampa. Load on, fuel low, refer fuel low. I emptied my trash from the truck and into my car and left the keys in the ignition and papers on the seat.

No note and not a word about being in. I just boogied out the gate and home. Two weeks later the boss (you know what boss means, right? -Spelled Backwards), well he called me at home and when I answered he asked if I was ready to go back to work yet? I told him, "When I get ready, I will phone you and I slammed the phone down!"

Two weeks later I went back out again and stayed with them for 18 months total. Talk about a bunch of yeahoos! just to be polite.

    White Tribe...

I'm a 47 yo white male from MS...and the last time I saw anyone of your "IQ" level and thinking, they were from "up north", or had moved south, from up north. Of course, we do still have trailer park trash...but we're cleaning you guys up too.

I don't think TIP was completely out of line. Although, I do believe he had fallen for the "bait" that everyone bites at least once in their life. Until they discover the truth about racism.

But, you sir...are completely out of line:biggrin_2558:

Maybe you're being too hard on this lunatic. He probably just needs to move his comments over to the 'politics' section of this forum - he'll fit in nicely there.

I once got "demerits" from the forum cadre for calling someone a dip(you know what) and another time was absolutely berated by a moderator for hinting that a poster was a blowhard.

Yet, this person(?) is allowed to spew his arrant insanity?

I guess I should have read the forum rules more KKKarefully.

:biggrin_2551: Oh my GOD and here I thought most of the country has learned to get along then this fool comes along and starts spewing his hate and discontent on a forum that I think has high morals. You know me (a white person in the military). I was actually offended by this guys ignorence. Just because someone has a different color skin or religon does not make them a bad person or any less of a person. IMO person like that needs to be put on probation or band. Heck send him back to prison so he can be with his kkk/arian nation clans. His comments were very distrubing.
