Finally got my Driver Code with Swift!!

Like the title says, I finally got my driver code today at orientation. If you guys & gals check back to one of my old threads, I did attend a orientation for another company but unfortunately they sent me home. For what reason, they would not give me an answer. Oh well, like I always said everything happens for a reason. Maybe Flatbed was not for me, but anyways,,,, Swift is giving me a chance so I'm BLESSED to have this opportunity. The whole orientation process was pretty smooth. LOTS, LOTS, LOTS of paper work, videos, ect. Seems like there's always a few experienced drivers attending orientation anywhere that think they know everything, then the trainer gets irritated, puts them to the teat, and fail lol. The terminal that I attended was in Decatur Ga. which was not a bad experience in my opinion, everyone was pretty friendly talked to a few drivers that were getting some service done on there trucks ect. So to keep this short I go back to the terminal tom morning to take a quick safety test & get my mentor situation taken care of, then I'm on my way for 6 weeks of training. I should be able to keep everyone posted who is interested in hearing my experience with this company. Well it looks like I'll be goin with my trainer this Sunday, pretty excited!!!

 

Yea I spoke to my trainer over the phone, he's a O/O been with the company for 10 years and has been training for 8. I was told after training I have to participate in this new system the have called the Family Plan were I go out for a min. of 2 weeks and can come home for a max of 12 days if I want. I have to do that for 45 days, then I have the option of receiving my own truck or continue to do the Family plan. The only thing I don't like about there new system is I would get a different truck every time I go back to work from my home time. I would get tired of swapping my personal belongings to a different truck every time. I just want my personal truck after training and call it a day. But we'll see how it goes and continue from there.

Sorry for the delay, I've been out with my trainer now for 3 weeks. So far so good, he's a cool guy showing me everything he can as we go along. As far as driving, I usually drive 400 to 500 miles a day on average. I tested myself to see if I could drive 10 hrs straight with no stops & I was able to do that with no problem surprisingly. I have to document 240hrs before I can test out to go solo, and right no I beleive I have 120hrs right now. As of right now, the driving part is easy. Just need to do more backing & alley docking so I can get more comfy on that. So far ive seen atleast 12 different states atleast which is pretty cool. So far im really enjoying myself out here, cant wait to get my 240hrs in so I can get my own truck and really see what its like out here. Well thats all I have as of right now, I'll try to keep u updated through out my experience,,,,, Drive Safe!
