I would get into how your attitude is the thing holding you back, however, Denadii Cho expressed exactly what I would have said. Do some grunt work, and find that first job. For some reason, many complain that no one hires new drivers, yet there are always new drivers starting to work OTR. I wonder, if no one is hiring, how did the new drivers get jobs? Hmmmm? :biggrin_2558:

To the OP here are my thoughts. You seem to have a level head on your shoulders and I hope you do land yourself a job in Canada. It is a great place to work and there are plenty of opportunities. It is hard to get a job when you are not in the country but i know of a few outfits that have gone looking outside of Canada to hire drivers. You should give Coastal Pacific Express a try. They are based out of Vancouver and I know have brought in foreign workers. A very close relation to me runs the company and it is a great place to work. They were voted in as 1 of Canadas best places to work in 2010.

I know I getting myself into a senseless pissing match with these next comments but here goes because I feel like sticking up for someone I know.

johnnygunn are you only in this thread to stir the pot calling people out and being a complete DIC to people you don't even know? But hey everyone is tough when they are sitting behind a keyboard or on the radio.

I know prairie boy hell the truck in his picture link that he posted up is now owned by my dad. He is legit and does have the experience he claims. You seem mad that he makes a good living because he is in a niche in trucking that makes good money. In my opinion the general rates in trucking are too low because there is always one company willing to undercut another to get work to the point when they are only working for fuel and wages and making very little profit. The oil companies are willing to pay the people that service them and I don't think that the trucking companies that supply the service are out to lunch on their rates they are making money and so are the oil companies, it is not like either are going broke seems like a fine balance to me. I won't deny either I make a real good living as well because I am in a trucking niche where I am as well.

You said "My family once immigrated here as has every non Indian. So those that have an attitude towards immigrants usually suffer from some form of substance abuse mental disorder lack of education poor work ethics or have been sexually molested."

I don't have a problem with immigrants coming to Canada. We are a culturally diverse country and have been that way since everyone immigrated here. But those comments show alot of close mindedness. Some people have their own values that they are raised with and are expressing their opinion but that doesn't mean they suffer from anything you described above. It is funny how you have such strong opinions but chastise others for their opinions by calling them down.

+1 on CPx. I've mentioned it before (can't remember if it was in this thread); I was leased onto them for a while and found them to be a very decent company.

I quite often tell drivers to get in touch with CPx. I first met the owner and his Dad in the Yukon many years ago when I was up there driving for White Pass.

If a company refuses hourly wages for manual labour nor pay your mileage rates based on an avg speed of 85kmh. Use them for year to get exp then get away. If your going to work hard u might as well get paid good doing it.
