I'm also hoping they don't go away, I just made the final payement for lifetime sub's of the best of on two radios the first of this month. I never realized how addicted I was till I was laid off from Big Dog where the truck had XM with a lifetime subscription in it. I thought I could just listen to the music library on my laptop but I only made it 4 days. I stopped at a Pilot out in California an bought a new Sirius and went the lifetime subscription route. Then when I was between jobs the end of December I put the receiver in my wifes new Jeep so a week after going to work at Wylie I bought a second one for the truck. Now, I've been hired back at Big Dog so starting March 2nd I'll have 3 of them.

I'm thinking both of them are losers after the company goes bankrupt. It will probably be nothing but computers running the music channels, and satellite feeds from regular radio shows from around the country, and cable news networks. I'm betting the big money talent on Sirius XM's payroll will be gone. I'm an O&A fan too. I paid the extra $4 a month for best of Sirius because I wanted to get the NASCAR races back (Sirius STOLE them from XM two years ago!) and it came with the Howard Channels. I have yet to listen to them, I can't stand the man.

But at any rate, I'm betting all that stuff has to go. Probably even baseball and NASCAR as well. The reorganized company after a chapter 11 will have to run just the basic stuff. A little is better than nothing.

While the loss of those channels would not affect me, I do know alot of people subscribe entirely for the access to both of those. To lose them would create a very significant loss in the subscriber base.

Yeah I dug up an old thread... I was looking for an old discussion I participated in about Sirius and found this one... yes its an old thread however this post is relevant.

What a difference 27 months makes.

The original story from the OP came out on a Friday in 2009 speculating a Bankruptcy that never happend... If someone had invested $1000 dollars in Sirius stock, the first trading day after the original post, at the bottom of .06/share, they would be sitting on over $33,000 dollars right now.

I didnt get in till June 09... and only a $100 at 30 some cents per share... but that $100 is $600 now. Ive since bought more. Wish I had jumped in sooner.

Some of us still have cassette tapes hanging around-even the odd 8-track and, wow, 20 years of the Rand's paper gps-map is what they used to call it I think.

Sirius and XM went through a lot of crap to get merged. Everybody and I mean everybody wanted a piece of the pie and if they couldn't get a finger in then, well, no one should have a piece. The merger was never a sure thing as far the FCC was concerned-it barely passed the process. So be a shame to see it go. Pretty eye opening at the time to follow the public documents posted at the FCC during the process-even the ones sponsored by NAB (Clear Channel hated the entire idea).

    Still-

I thought then (and still do), that XM was a better service-more responsive to the subscribers-especially in the music channels. Sirius always seems-hmm-preprogrammed. Kind of like most FM music stations these days. I am not a big fan of "canned" entertainment.

I'm thinking maybe new management and a new approch might be good thing.

    IMHO,

    Mark.

I keep them around for the original content, the talk shows, the cable news channels. That's about it. If I want to hear music, I usually plug my phone in and listen to what I want to listen to.
