I am just curious as to why we went from long chats to seeing who has the bigger fist over a parking spot ????

Are you referring to why there's more and more radio rambos on the air as opposed to the ones who are up for a good chat?

If so I believe it has to do with the FCC no longer monitoring the airwaves of CB radio, so now anyone who wants to spat off, cause trouble, call names, make threats of a fight, etc. can now do it and most likely not have to answer to his/her actions. Unless of course if someone at the truck stop saw him/her on the radio.

if you are really really really bored while sitting in the t/s--turn on the cb and listen for the rambo's--then try and pick which one it is---and at least 7 times out of 10--the guy with the biggest mouth will come out of his truck--and he is a little balding middleaged man wearing suspenders --always more of geek than a rambo

It was not that common in the 70's. But it was in the 80's.

I used to have a theory about all the hate and discontent on the radio, that it was some drivers' way of staying awake on those long drives. Nothing gets the juices going like a good fight I guess.

But honestly, my CB is always off unless I'm at some customer who asks you to monitor a certain channel so they can tell you what dock door you're assigned to or whatever.

The one time I tried to get some "what's ahead down the road" info I was totally ignored while a bunch of people having private conversations walked all over each other.

But then I thought of an evil plan: I put on my best Pebbles Flinstone voice imitation and asked the question one last time. The reply was instant:

"Hey, baby, where you at? Y'wanna fall in love for a couple of hours?"

I did finally get an answer to my question. But the loss of dignity wasn't worth the effort. :D

The problem is, for some reason, people think it's funny to talk $%^& to people on the radio, yet, if you see that person and call them out, they shut up pretty quick.

If you're that miserable that all you can do is try to start trouble on the CB, do us all a favor and go home and hang your sorry $%%. Let someone who WANTS to work take your job.

Hey I don't wear suspenders! Oh wait. That wasn't me cussin' people out. When I hear that stuff on the CB, I just shut my yap and consider it a free show. If all those blowhards did what they said they were gonna do there'd be a wall of burned trucks and bleached bones 10FT high on the side of the road.

This is a big reason why the only time i turn on my radio is when im at a shipper/reciever that contact you by radio, to many radio tuff guy's,to many that dont understand there are more than just ch.19 on the radio, have no problem when two drivers want to have a conversation, but take it to another channel, leave 19 open for other things, like road conditions, accidents, bear reports, ect. ect.
